1996 Nissan pickup XE - still not working after changing distributor

"After driving several miles, the vehicle begins to act as though it is starving for gas, it looses power the jerks and goes again. There is no particular speed that it does this. Say id you were traveling 60 mph and the traffic in front began to slow, so you come off the accelerator for just a short time, then give it gas again to maintain your speed, it will loose power then all of a sudden accelerate.

We were told it was in the distributor. We replaced the complete distributor... the whole thing. The pickup is doing the exact same thing. The check engine light has been on for the past 2 years... never an actual issue found as to why it is on. The computer diagnostic was done prior to changing the distributor.

Our van had died 3 days prior to the pickup. It had a fuel pump issue. We changed the fuel filters on both vehicles at the same time (after the pickup started acting up).

The pickup is quite frustrating... and we need it fixed. We've already put 300.00 in parts into it... to have it do the exact same thing and no improvement.

The radio has a permanent power wire to keep it's station memory. You are losing power on this for some reason. Possibly starter motor is shorting the battery. Possibly one of the big earth straps is corroded.

Starter/Electrical Issue

It sounds like a bad starter. You can have the starter tested at a place such as Auto Zone or Advance Auto, but it needs to be taken off the vehicle.

I have a 96 nissan xe pickup 4x4 standard shift. The gears seems to shift better (not good) when engine is still cool, and the more I drive the harder it is to shift. I have to take clutch petal all the...

Depending how many miles are on the vehicle, the clutch plate may need to be replaced. Do you hear any strange "grinding" noises when engaging or disengaging the clutch? I'm assuming you have checked the hydraulic fluid in the reservoir and it is full. You may also want to change the fluid as hydraulic fluid deteriorates over time and it may not be completely disengaging the clutch. Please rate this answer, thanks.

My 1996 XE Pickup Nissan the horn blows by itself when i turn to the left. How can I disconnect the horn

Well I don't recommend disconnecting seeings how the horns is a safety item. It is more than likely the clock spring in the steering wheel that is broken and when you turn to the left it makes contact thus allowing the horn to go off. I recommend fixing the problem. You might want to check out your local laws regarding non working safety items on your vehicle, you could actually set yourself up for other issues if you are to get into an accident and certain safety devices are not working.
