Question about 2002 Mitsubishi Galant
Hi, my name is matt, i have a problem..i went to start my car and it wouldn't start, and my dashboard lights (milage, engine light, seat belt light..etc.) would keep flickering when key is in the on position.I thought maybe battery, but i have power in interior and exterior lights. I even hooked up a battery charger but shows its 90%..I then checked all fuses and all are fine. I then disconnected the positive terminal off the battery to reset the electrical system and once again failure.. could anyone possibly help me out..I'm 20 yrs old..live on my own and don't have much money to bring it to a mechanic..all help is very much appreciated..
I had the same problem the other day. I heard a clicking noise and nothing would happen. I took it to a mechanic who simply cleaned the terminals connecting to the battery and that seemed to have fixed the problem. I then drove it over to AutoZone and they tested the electrical system and everything tested out fine. He said (the AutoZone employee) it looked like the positive terminal had a bad connection as it was hard for his machine to get a reading without him wiggling around the alligator clip. The terminal is a strange one though but I am planning to replace the terminal personally.

I am hoping for your sake that this is the battery terminals. Remove both terminals from the posts and check for corrosion, cola is the easiest way to remove it, (seriously!). If not it sounds like a loose connection somewhere in the main wiring, that is what would cause the flickering. let me know if you need more information, good luck.
