Remove the belt, then remove the pulley, you may need a tensioner bar or sometimes a 3/8 ratchet will fit. when you instal the new one there may be a keyway or alignment dowel, besure it slides into place before tightening it down

SOURCE: how to replace belt tension pulley for dodge neon 2002

No need to pull off pullys. The belts are tensioned by the alternator adjustment, or by a belt idler that is on a spring loaded arm

SOURCE: tensioner pulley 1995 dodge caravan

Hi my name is Allen!

To help you I need to know what engine you have?

For example; 3.0 liter or 3.3 liter

If it is the 3.0 liter the nut for the tensioner is toward the firewall side of the engine tucked tightly under the exhaust manifold, very hard to get too.

If its the 3.3 liter you would have already seen it, both have only one nut holding the tensioner on. This one is easier.

SOURCE: How to replace tensioner pulley on 2000 Dodge Neon

Make sure you locate the Serpentine Belt Routing Sticker before you proceed. If not make an excellent drawing and take a GOOD Picture. Do NOT try to just remember how it goes back on Should be a 15mm wrench to loosen tensioner to remove belt. Locate mounting bolts to tensioner and remove, replace with NEW tensioner tighten bolts then use wrench arc torque about 15 degrees should snug it down, reroute belt then using 15mm pull tensioner to either side of belt to install belt in correct route. Remove all tools and body parts from engine bay. Do not start engine if anyone is in the vicinity of engine bay. Belt may fly off if you did not do it right and cause all kinds of shrapnell, if it doesn't fly off, visually inspect belt before starting and after, I would suggest being very careful before during and after starting to insure safety.

SOURCE: How do I replace the

You have to remove the whole bracket that the tensioner assembly is attached to then you can get at the bolts that holed the tensioner and pulley together to service. Have fun.

Power steering pulley or tensioner pulley?

Take the tension off the belt and then move each pulley by hand . If the tensioner pulley feels rough or makes a noise, replace it. Same goes for the power steering, although the pump may be noisy without the pulley feeling loose.

How to replace belt tentioner

Hello! The serpentine belt tensioner assembly is mounted on the engine mount plate. None of the fasteners that hold either the pulley or tensioning arm itself are accessible with the mount plate in the vehicle, so it must be removed...Once you have the engine mount plate removed, you may begin to remove the pulley..The pulley is held onto the tensioner by a torx bolt. Once the bolt is removed, the pulley can be lifted right up and off of the shaft it is seated on..See photo below...

2005 dodge neon the idler pulley went out. How do I change wthe idler pulley?

You will have to go to the tensioner pulley and put a wrench on that bolt and apply presure in the allowed direction and take the belt off...look first to see if there is a diagram of how the belt goes back on if there isn't write one down before you take the belt off...might be a good time to inspect the belt for cracks and replace as needed.

What is the best way to replace the tensioner pulley on a 2005 neon? i have the tool to remove the power stearing pully. is there also a tool for the tensioner pully? will i have to pull the motor?

No you will not have to pull the motor. The pulley is held on with a standard bolt. However, if the pulley bearing is worn, I would suggest replacing the entire tensioner. The spring inside gets weak over time. It won't cost all that much more for the whole tensioner (it includes a new pulley already installed) and it will prevent a problem in the future.
