Its your check engine light
it tells you that the engine computer saw a problem and saved a code
you need to have the codes pulled with a scan tool.
you might call your local auto parts store and see if they will scan it for you
many stores do this at no charge

I have x reg toyota corolla there is an orange light on the dashboad that looks like a car with two diagonal lines what ist it or what should I do

This yellow sign is called Malfunction Engine Light (MIL), Engine Light Soon or Check Engine Light (CEL). This light is provided to let the driver know that something has happened wrong with any of the sensors and needs to visit garage to diagnose the problem.
You should get it checked from any of the workshops ASAP.
After the light comes on, the engine runs in fail safe mode, the emission system is disabled which may result in more fuel consumption, poor drive ability and unstable engine rpm.

INSTRUMENT CLUSTER

It is probably where the seat belt plugs in (Stalk) This will cause both lights as it is part of the SRS (Suplimental Restraint System). Start by looking under the drivers seat at the wire from the seat belt stalk & look for any damage to the wireing. Then check passanger side. It is normaly drivers side cause that is the seat that gets mved most. All SRS plugs should be yellow for identification

My 2002 honda civic ex vtec sputters and chugs significantly at over 3500 rpms and does some under load at lower rpms. Have looked around under the hood on the passengers side firewall for a fuel filter...

This model car has a "permanent" Fuel filter/pump combination. It is not meant to be changed. The filter/pump combo is in the fuel tank and can be accessed from under the back seat. I am highly doubtful that the filter is the malfunction you are experiencing. When your vehicle has low power and runs rough rough at low RPM's and then starts misfiring at 3500 RPM, it sounds like your timing belt has stripped some cogs and is in the process of shredding. THIS IS AN ENGINE EMERGENCY!!! IF THE BELT FAILS COMPLETELY AT HIGH RPM IT WILL DESTROY YOUR ENGINE!!! Do not fool around with changing sensors until you have had this checked out. If your DTC is saying that the MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor or TDC (Top Dead Center) sensor is bad, check the timing belt.

A light comes on that looks like a little engine

This is called your check engine light. In your car, there are two types of dash/instrument lights: red and yellow. Red indicates a major problem that needs to be corrected quickly like low oil pressure light or seat belt light. A yellow light means the problem MAY not by as bad. The check engine light is yellow because it may point to small problems that may not spell iminent doom for your car. Are there any differences in how the car drives or anything that you can think of that happened right before the light came on? Some problems could be simple from a lose gas cap to as complex as faulty sensors. If you have a car scan tool, use it to find the code. If not, you can visit your mechanic. However a trip like this will cost around $40 just for the scan. The easiest thing to do would be to try and figure out how the car is acting differently and let me know so i can help you figure out what is wrong. Hope this helps

I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX-4. The SRS light came on and stayed on. I've owned the car since new, and it's never been hit.I have three questions 1.) Could it be something with the seatbelt? 2.)If not,...

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat

(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity2_bing.gif problem.

I DO NOT disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s)

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

AC died, a belt is broken, now no tachometer or power

It probably ran the alternator too and without it the battery ran down so the engine went dead without any power.

It is inspection time and my srs light in my 2001 mitsubishi eclipse is on what is this? i assume srs is something to do with airbags , or restraints not sure but could this be caused by a bad sensor or...

You are right, SRS is to do with the airbags (Secondary Restraint System, the seatbelts being the first!)

It is almost certainly a bad sensor or a fault with an airbag squib (the thing that fires the bag.)

I would advise against DIY fault-finding. Let a professional look at it using proper diagnostic equipment.

Hope this helps!
