I had a problem with the brakes on my 2005 GMC that significantly increased the fuel consumption. The calipers for the disk brakes were not moving freely and were causing the brake pad on one side to always contact the rotor. This problem is easily found by checking for heated brakes after a short drive or by coasting to a stop to see if the truck rolls easily without power.

Poor gas milage?

Thinking you are getting poor gas milage,Your engine is running smooth,no misses,Engine runs smooth while accelerating up a hill, Still poor gas milage, Check your tire pressure. I have a 1999 Chevy Blazer 4x4, 4.3 Ltr. Auto, loaded. I have just over 154000 miles on it,I change my fluids every 5000 miles. Summer driving milage got real bad. I drive a Blazer hard. I tow a 16ft trailor usally loaded to the top with wood. Tires get hot in the summer, while in the winter, they stay mostly cool. Always check your air pressure. Most vehicals are equipted with radials now days, So if you think a tire looks low, check it, Usally they low. Usally in the winter months, nobody checks tire pressure. It really does make a difference. I went from 17.2 MPG to 19.5 MPG, while pulling the same trailor loaded with wood. I cut my own wood then stack it in my trailor to sell. I have Good Year Wranglers size: P235/75R/15 I just replace these with new ones. The old ones are going on my trailor. Counted milage on tires are 65000 Miles. Tires were rated at 40000 miles, Under normal use.

I have a 94 gmc burb with a 454, it has one of those "fuel injected" carbs and i found that its a one ton 4x4. 1 can i just change the carb to an aftermarket one "like holley" with out...

so you have a 3500 hd 1994 suburban with a stompin 454 big block, with a TBI fuel injected carb ! SOUNDS GOOD DON;T IT? A TBI carb has the fuel nozzles in the housing of the carb where the butterfly flippers let air and fuel into the cylinders. you can replace those with bigger injectors for more of a fuel spray but you will also have to accomodate for more air. you can also get aftermarket chips for that. Did this truck get manufactured like this or is this something someone assembled. unless you are making a bogger out of this and its a factory original, i'd leave it alone and restore it to new. maybe a lift and 33's Dont know if i want the 10-14 mpg as a daily driver or a 6-10 mpg weekend stompin warrior. tough call, fix what you have and you will get more use out of her.

I have a 2007 GMC 1500 5.3 V8. Once I got 45,000

ever tuned it up? sounds like its due. plugs, wires, fuel filter (if equipped), PCV, and an intake system cleaning should restore your fuel economy to where you want it.
