That is the check engine light. It has come on to tell you there is a problem with the computer, computer controlled device, sensor, or system the computer monitors. You bestbet it to check for codes. Once you know them you will have a much better idea of what's going on. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. I have a 2008 convertible Saab which has lost its lack of power all of a sudden...picture of engine block is on the dashboard, any idea what this means

Malfunction indicator. Have the computer scanned at your local parts store and post the trouble codes here.

My 2000 Durango, no turn signals or hazards. Fuses are all ok. The indicator lights don't even light up.

According to the manual, there are two fuses for the turn signals/hazard lights, Fuse D in the power distribution center (in the engine compartment), and Fuse 10 on the Junction Block (left side of the dashboard assembly). Also on the junction block is the combination flasher unit. If these all check OK, you'll need to check the wiring and connectors from the junction block to the combination switch on the steering column, and the combination switch itself.

The temperature gauge works for about 5 kilometers and whenit reaches normal the gauge drops to zero.

If you want to do-it-yourself, I would change out the sending unit that screws into the engine block .

They are not too expensive.

These units work on a "grounding" principle.

That means they sense temperature and use electrical resistance to tell the dashboard gauge what to read.

It appears you may have a defective "screw-in-the-block" sending unit.

God bless your efforts.

My dashboard and rear lights don't work

Assuming this has the V6, the 15A PARK LPS fuse in the underhood fuse block feeds constant power to the auto park lamp relay. When the relay closes, 12V power passes through the 10A INST LPS fuse in the right instrument panel fuse block to the panel dimmer switch and then to the five instrument cluster lamps.

If by "rear lights" you mean everything in the rear lamp assemblies, power for the tail lights (running lights) starts at the 15A PARKLAMP fuse in the underhood junction block, passes through the automatic lamp control (ALC) relay and the right instrument panel junction block to the tail filament of the dual stop/tail lamp and the separate tail lamp on each side. The 12 V power for the stop lamps is protected by the 20A STOPLAMPS fuse in the left I/P junction block, passes through the stoplamp switch when brakes are applied, stop filament of the dual stop/tail lamps. That leaves the turn signals and the hazard lamps. Power for the turn signals originates at the 10A TURNLAMPS fuse in the left I/P junction block and is applied to the hazard switch. Switch output goes to the turn/headlamp/wiper switch for selection of left or right turn signals. That switch output goes to the turn lamp. Power for the hazard function begins at the 10A HAZRD LPS fuse in the left I/P junction box and goes to the hazard switch. Switch output is sent to the left I/P junction box to make the turn signals flash. That's it. Post a comment if you need more information.

We have a 2005 trailblazer and there is a arrow light pointing down on the dashboard. what does this symbol mean?

If this is the arrow that appears in the figure of an engine block, it indicates a "reduced engine power" condition. This usually means there is a problem detected by the computer that causes it to limit engine RPM's to 2000. You need to have a mechanic scan for fault codes.

1993 ls400 is starting however it is smoking heavily. the oil and filter was changed and the coolant topped off. the engine light is not on and the dashboard light is going off and on. any ideas???

You don't say what color the smoke is.

Blue smoke means the engine is burning oil, so it has very worn internal parts inside. (lots of miles, or very poor maintenance) Not a thing you can do about this, except rebuild the engine, or replace the engine.

Black smoke means that the engine is running too rich, getting too much gas.- Get a complete tune up.

White smoke means that the engine is burning its coolant, which means that you probably need a new head gasket (Best case) or the block, or piston sleeve, or head is cracked. If cracked block or sleeve, then you need a new engine. If head or head gasket, then you only need those parts replaced.

Signal light??? Do you mean check engine light or service engine soon light? If so you will need to have the codes pulled to determine the issue.

Long beep after ignition

Beep indicates a problem, can mean many things like engine fault, or low washer fluid, or turn signal bulb is out. If nothing shows up on the dashboard, check your turn signals, brake lights, and head lights
