High resistance can cause this ,, bad plugs ,, bad connections or bad earths all cause high resistannce which can cause a voltage spike in the system potentially damaging coils or even the engine ecu ,,,

Jer whats a bad earth, is that the connector, i will change the plugs thank you for your quick response Bob

  • jeremiah horgan Feb 11, 2012

the earth refers to the negetive connection on the battery ,this cable supplies earth or negetive to the engine and body ,,,every electrical item in the car has to have a positive and negetive to operate ,,, switches turn on the item by controling either the positive or negetive ,,,,, your coils have a positive and negetive to make them work so any earth leads around the engine need to be clean and tight ,,,,,hope this helps

SOURCE: Warning lights won't go off.

You need to have a code scanner hooked to the car to find out why the lights are on, if there is an auto zone or advanced auto near you, go there and ask them if they can hook one up, or call around to see who can do it.

SOURCE: How do I install alt. belt on 2005 scion xb?

I just looked at my '04 xB. It looks very straight forward.
loosen the bolt that holds the alternator to the bracket.
carefully slide the alt to the bottom. (Also be aware of the plug and wires on the alt. They should never hold the weight of the alternator. You dont want them breaking prematurely.)
Pull the belt off, remove the belt from the crank shaft pulley.

Do the reverse, and you will have replaced the belt.

Make sure to check the belt in about a week or so.
New belts will stretch over time. Make sure you keep the tension tight enough to work correctly, but not so tight that the alernator shaft is warped.
I usually place the new belt on both pulleys and give a good "medium" pull on the alt while tightening. Find the middle of the belt and squeeze them together, depending on the type and length of the belt, there should be about 1/4" of flex on both sides.

I know you are looking to have the remote starter run a third time but I would say you need to look at your Fuel Pressure Regulator on the Scion. Sounds like it is not holding fuel pressure at the fuel rail and that is why it requires a third Crank
