Go to a Salvage Yard or contact Car-parts.com which is a collection of online parts salvagers. There were optional radios which had this feature and also a 6 CD stack for the trunk.

The biggest thing would be to make sure the wiring is compatible if going to a trunk mount. But a dash mount single radio/CD is probably the cheapest way and I would think the speaker wires should be compatible.

The manufactuers used a 4 pin lock system in the front dash facing of the radio. You can get the simple release pin barbs at Walmart or most autoparts places. Just insert the barb pin stems into the 4 square holes and press and the radio should come out.

There are several ways to go about it.

You could install a CD changer and run it through the existing stereo.

There are also (portable) single disk players available that have an adapter that you slide into the cassette player and play it through the existing stereo.

You could look in the salvage yard to see if there are any factory (FORD) CD/Radios that would plug right in and you would not have to make any modifications to the vehicle wiring harnesses or connections.

Then there is the obvious option of visiting your local car stereo store and picking out some fancy new stereo with all the blinky lights and have them install it for you. (Be forewarned that many times, the vehicle wiring harnesses can get pretty butchered using this option - depending on who is doing the installation)

Yes, it is compatible. We went ahead and bought the CD assembly from a salvage yard and it only took 10 min. to change out. My husband used four nails that fit into the holes to release the original assembly and it popped right out!

Problem is the radio cassette is locked how to

Hi, If you mean the cassette tape is stuck in the player, you can try prying it upwards and outwards to see if the player will release the locking pins (car on, radio on). If it wont, the tape deck is shot, only way to get it out is to disassemble unit. (Not worth the trouble, put yourself a CD player in there about $100)....MIke

2003 Mercury Grand Marquis GS Radio just stopped working, but the CD player still works fine. I checked the (2?) fuses to the radio and they were o.k. What could be causing my problem? Thanks for any...

This is a common problem with this radio. I purchased a used 2003 Grand Marquis and the radio stopped working after a few days. I checked all the usual problems such as faulty antenna and connections. I then looked on line and many others have the same problem with this radio. The only advice is to purchase a used radio from salvage yard the same as the one you have now or you can also go with a good aftermarket radio for around the same price as you are going to pay for a used radio. A used radio would require just removing the radio which is a snap, and then plugging in the replacement radio using the same connections. An after market radio will require adapters and splicing wires. I chose putting in an aftermarket JVC radio and I really enjoy the sound and being able to play cd/mp3's and my ipod through the radio.
