1995 Honda Accord Stuck in Park

Have a 1995 Accord EX V6 2.7L. What happens is the shifter gets stuck in park and the gear positon light in the dash is not lighted. So I cannot get the key out of the ignition. This mainly happens when it is cold outside and the car is not really warmed up yet. The shifter light works fine for any gear but park. When I get in the car in the morning I can get it out of park fine it is just when I go to get out of the car and I put it in Park. I am then stuck for a couple of minutes till I jiggle the shifter enough and the light comes on.
I know it is not the brake pedal release thing, because I can hear the clicking noise when I tap the brake pedal. I was maybe thinking the gear position sensor, but why would park be the only problem, and why is it temperature sensitive. This only happens when it is cold outside. Any Ideas?????? Thanks,

Honda transmission stuck in park

In all probability the brake sensor on the pedal is starting to work erratically. This sensor sends a signal to the shifter gate, and the gate will not open unless the brake pedal is depressed. I had it happen to me, and the only solution until i replaced the sensor was to hit the brake over and over until the stop light worked. If the stop lights work, the shifter gate should allow the shifter to move out of park. This sensor/ switch is located about 3 inches above the brake pedal, and it is easily recognizable by the cable attached to it.

I own a 1995 honda accord ex 2.2L vtec, and it won't go into reverse no matter what I do..it seems to be locked out. any ideas of what could have happened, and what I need to replace?

If you are unable to get it out of park and into any other gear including reverse check the brake pedal
switch. The brakes have to be applied on most automatics in order to get the car out of park.
The switch should be attached to the brake pedal
under the dash.

1999 Honda Accord EX won't shift out of park. It is stuck. I think it's the shift lock solenoid but I'm not sure. How do I get the car out of park. I pushed the brake in but the button on the gear shifter...

If you press the Break pedal and the shift button does not engage, Your Solenoid did not activate to release it out of park. either the: solenoid is out - Bent levers - Solenoid harness disconnected - Break activation wire may be damaged. this piece is easy to replace as it sits on the right side (passanger side) of the shift lever. remove center console cover to access the soleniod which is held on by two 10mm nuts. and a C- clamp

Stuck in Park - 2001 Honda Accord 4cyc - Automatic

there is a solenoid on the shifter assembly that allows you to depress the button on the shifter to shift from park. this solenoid is controlled by the brake light switch on your brake pedal arm under the dash. you could have a bad brake light switch, bad wiring, or a bad solenoid on the shifter assembly. if your brake lights work properly, the brake light switch should be okay, and you'd start checking wiring to the solenoid. if the wiring tests good then you should replace the solenoid. you may need to buy the entire shifter assembly as most solenoids are not available seperatly.

GEAR SHIFT

The most likely problem is the locking mecanism in your shif selector.
There is a selenoid that prevent the car from get it out of park unless you push the brake pedal while the car is running or the ignition switch is on.
The problem could be in the brake switch itself under the dash or the selenoid in the shifter console.

Shifting Gear is Stuck in ''Park'' position

u will need to check and make sure the brake lights work, the shifter is tied to the brake light switch, if the brake lights don't work or the brake pedal is not pushed a gear shifter lock out is engaged, this is a Federally mandated safety feature.
