That would be the first thing I suspected as well. If you have a voltmeter and the steering column trim panels removed and have the no blinker symptom present I'll be more than happy to walk you through some basic tests. Let me know if you have any questions and I'll do my best to answer them. Thank you for using!

SOURCE: 2005 Chevrolet Malibu Classic. Rear defroster,

I have the exact same problem with my Malibu Classic (well, recirc is "stuck on", no way to turn compressor off and rear de-icer is stuck on, hogging current from my alternator); Only temporary workaround is to pull grey plug from behind CCS head (the 15-or-so-pin female connector), or pull fuses; The problem is in a downstream micrprocessor circuit that uses various sensors to determine "is it ok to engage compressor?" (ie engine rpm not above 5500); So, defective sensors? Probably not. Crappy firmware? Probably so. Screwed? Depends on how clever you get. In any case this has been going on since the 1997 models.

Why won't the front turn signal work? I just replaced the entire headlamp assembly on 2005 Chevy Malibu.

is turn signal plugged in?
if this is a new bulb try the old one to make sure bulb is not at fault
then need to check the voltage at the connector.
A test light is easiest way from a good ground to each terminal.
if flashing the ground connection could be corroded.
if nothing at connector try the connection at the turn signal switch.

2005 chevy trailblazer - no cruise control and brake lights only work when key is turned off

I would check the turn signal switch. The cruise and turn signal are on the same switch. The brake lights go through the switch before going to the brake lights. And the turn signals don't work with the ignition off.

Good chance that the controller on your turn signal has gone bad since you started having cruise control issues when you used it to activate your turn signal. You can pick one up at Auto Zone and they will have the step by step instructions for you to replace the turn signal arm with the cruise control switch. it takes about 30 min to replace with common tools.
Thank you for using Fixya and good luck

2005 Malibu Classic Hazard Module replacement

The hardest part is finding it. With your key on give a left or right turn signal. Try to listen and pinpoint the clicking of the turn signal flasher. Once you locate the turn signal flasher, your hazard flasher will look just like this and should be mounted nearby, typically next to it. The flasher simply pulls out and the new one just pushes in.

Turning Signals keep blowing and signals cancel cruise control.

Sounds to me that the turn signal switch is bad and will have to be replaced. If you could wiggel it around and get them to work tells me that is wear the problem is.

Cruise control turns off when signaling right

You need to replace the turn signal switch, the cruise wire breaks connection when the stalk for the turn signal is moved, common problem on GM, they all use the same switch, just a little diff. markings.
