SOURCE: my taurus has the jerks, and sputters?

The 1st thing you need to do is go to an Auto zone or Kragen auto and have them run a trouble code test, the OD light is blinking to let you know there is a transmission related fault, but it sounds like the may be other issues like the MAF sensor and passably a low fuel pressure concern.

SOURCE: car jerks at rapid acceleration

try changing your fuel filter. It may be a throttle position sensor, but if it was an electrical problem, your "check engine" light would be on and a mechanic would have to put the computer on it to test.

I would suggest changing your fuel filter.

You can go to www.autozone.com and register,
Than you can view a free online repair manual with step by step directions and diagrams.

SOURCE: check engine light came on and car is jerking and acts funny in low gears

could be the iac valve, idle air control valve.
at the beginning check for air leaks, a scanner will be enough for to know the reason,

It sounds like the fuel is not being delivered sufficently to the engine. Try looking here. Perhaps a fuel injecter cleaner (you can pour Seafoam into the gas tank and it is a great fuel injecter cleaner and fuel stabilizer). What did your plugs look like when you replaced them? This can tell you a lot about the combustion chamber. A Haynes manual will be invaluable to you.

Causes car jerk

Car needs to warm up properly so that the automatic choke disengages completely,
After allowing the car to run at idle for a minute or two,
Give the accelerator pedal a quick push to about 1/3 throttle,
Idle speed should drop back to normal running speed and the car drive properly

A bad throttle position sensor can cause similar problems. They are a potentiometer, just like a volume knob on a radio. It should be on the drivers side of the throttle body and has a 3 wire connector. There are ways to test it, but replacement is the best way. Having the new one will also let you know what the old one looks like. Most of them have 2-3 torx head bolts size T-10 or T-15.

When i come to a stop like at a light or something the car jerks even with foot on brake.

When you say the car jerks even with the footbrake on dose the car try to drive as well or just the engine **** as if its trying to drive when jerks then its the bands and or oil problem in the box as this is the convertor not braking free when down on 5 to 650 RPM.
GET IT CHECKED OUT AT YOUR AUTO BOX PLACE IT WILL ONLY TAKE 1/2 HR AND THE COST OF A NEW G/BOX IS A LOT OF MONEY.
HAVE A GOODDAY.

You are burning oil for sure, if it was a leak you would have a large puddle under the car when it was parked and the underside would be covered in oil all the way to the gas tank. Modern catalytic converters tend to burn off oil so many times you see little smoke
