Does it leak any antifreeze on the floorboard or anywhere? Common problem with the jeep cherokee that the heater or A/C will cause it to leak and had to replace the whole unit.

Either your heater core is plugged up or your line to the core is restricted. Do a complete reverse rad flush with a radiator cleaning solution and try it. If that doesn't work you'll need a new heater core.

I have a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee w/115,000 miles on it. It seems like the defroster vent is kicking up some kind of oily film onto the windshield. What could be causing that? Someone told me that the...

Not a bad gasket, as there is no gasket. The heater core has developed a small leak and needs to be replaced or repaired. This is a big job, as the entire dash has to come out of the Jeep. The cost of the part is $77 at autozone, but the labor is several hours at a good shop. We have the procedure and can send it if you would like to do this job yourself. Just let me know.

My 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee has very little heat coming out, the engine temp is fine. I was told the heater flap door actuator is probably bad. How do I check it and/or finf directions to fix it? Thanks...

Check that the heater tap is working, its located under the bonnet in one of the heater hoses, you can also manually move this tap.

If this works ok then the heater actuator inside is faulty. If any sign of leakage / stiffness rplace with new one. Common for them to fail.

Major work to replace this part.

01 jeep grand cherokee heater works on driver side blows cold on passenger side

You have 2 posibilities.there are 2 motors on the heater box that run the blend doors for each side. That side motor may be bad or worst case the blend door arm that connects to the motor is broken. If it is broken the whole dash has to be removed so the heater box can be taken out to replace the blend doors.Big job,do a heater core while your there if you fix it so you dont have to do it again.

Entire heater needs to be replaced

i work at a dealer and generally its is 8 hours labor to remove the dash. disassemble the HVAC box, repair whatever doors or motors broke, checking the Evaporator and heater core for leaks. and it typically comes out to around $1400 when all is said and done but thats also at $90 per hour

2001 Grand Cherokee Heat on one side cold air on the other side?

The blend door on the passenger side has broken. Jeep has made a replacement section for the heater box assembly so you don't have to buy the whole thing. You will need to remove the heater/A/C box to replace the part. I have done quite a few of these repairs to fix the problem

Most likely cause is a broken dual zone blend/temp door in the heater box. There is a revised part available from a dealer. It is a big job to replace requiring the dash to come out and heater box. Sometimes, but rarely, it is one of the electric actuators or control head that's the culprit.
