if it has no electrical wires it is a fuel filter. if it has some wiring probably a fuel pump.if you have dual gas tanks it makes more sense for it to be a fuel pump because you have a delivery line plus a return line from each tank it may also be a fuel tank switch module... as models do vary some.

1986 C2500 GMC 6.2l diesel with dual fuel tanks wont supply fuel to the fuel filter

Can only be a couple of things. Electric fuel pump is not functioning correctly, the electric switch is stuck between tanks, or you have a blocked line.

there is a electronic switching device underneath on frame that switches from tank to tank check that to see if it is bad.
I have had them go bad in the past and had to temporarily hook up electric fuel pump to pump from 1 gas tank to get home.

Plenty of fire. Will not start. Fuel pump and filter working.

I had that problem, if your truck has dual tanks there is a dual tank reservoir....the lines from the tanks run into it before going into the electric fuel pump. It can't be repaired and the only place to get one is from a ford dealer and they run around 200.00..I just did away with the reservoir and hooked it up to just use the front tank. Hope this helps.

No, the pump is not all the way working. Pump works only when you turn ON the switch to your key and it turn OFF in 3 second to get pressure the tanks,ok.

1992 ford f150 Truck shut down at 60mph and now fuel pumps wont

Where does the fuel come from that leaks out when running? If you have dual fuel tanks and one tank is overflowing you will need to check the fuel tank switch in the dash. Ford had a problem with these that caused the fuel pump from one tank to pump fuel to the other tank and cause it to overflow. If this is the case the tank switch is probably defective.
They can get very hot and melt the wires into the back of the switch. Check the switch first.
