that clicking noise is coming from a one of the blend door actuators under the dash. not too bad to change. while it's clicking, feel behind the dash in the area you hear it, to get an idea where it is. most likely your only problem. good luck with it ....

SOURCE: popping sound from near glove box in dash in 2008 Impala

This is the location of your BcM or Body control Mod. This controls all the things you are talking about. Lights, flashers, door locks trunk lock, that clicking you are hearing is a relay turning something on. So Lets say you are driving and it starts to get dark your BcM will change your driving lights to full night time mode, turning lights on, on your dash. Now you have Bright and dim functions. There is a sensor in the dash up front in the windshield that senses dark/light and does this. That is what you hear, a relay in your BcM clicking off/on some function of the car.

Ok the knocking noise could be coming from your fan. I would removed the blower and make sure there is nothing in the blades. You can also remove the plastic cowling on the passenger side and look down into the blower assembly

Clicking noise in dashboard

More than likely its the blend door motor, they have plastic gears inside, one tooth broke off and when it gets to that spot, starts clicking. The blend door, is behind the glove box. This is a problem with a lot of impalas (GM products ) Good-Day!

we have a 2008 impala and our car was making a noise like that and it was the blended door accuator. it controls the outside air coming in.It is located behind the glove compartment. We unplugged ours but we didn't have any heat.We bought the part at O'reilly's auto parts. Hope this helps.

Its must be your a/c recirculation door motor its located near the right side of the glove box. open your glove box next time it clicks. its in a tough spot to remove but it can be done. you can buy them aftermarket for about $25.00
