Question about 1990 Mitsubishi Galant

1 Answer

2007 Mitsubishi Galant high beams work but low beams do not.

I can only get my high beams to work. The low beams do not. I checked the fuses, there are two, one for each side. They are not blown. It there a way to check what the problem could be?

It could be a short on the harness or the headlight switch

You have short circuit between battery positive terminal and chassis.Follow a cable from battery to an alternator. If O.K. remove alternator and check all diods- 6 pse. Also check cable from battery to a starter motor.

SOURCE: passenger side headlight won't work

This sounds like a wiring problem. I know it has been documented that the '01 eclipse headlight connectors have had issues with arcing and this problem sounds like the wiring may just be shorting instead of arcing. I would recommend starting at the bulb socket and working backwards along the wiring, looking for shorts along the way. It would also be important to note if your low beams do not work at all, versus working occasionally or even sometimes flickering while driving.

Check to make sure the fuse is not blown. The fuse for the low beam and high beam headlights are in the fuse block under the hood. Each light has its own fuse.

I have a 1999 Corolla, and both headlights suddenly stopped working. The low beams don't work, but the high beams do. The fuses are fine.

low beam is a bulb on its own, usually under the big main bulb.the main big bulb works your normal night time driving and your high beam,ie.flashers.if 1 low beam has blown its more than likley a power serge blown the other side as they run off the same wiring.hope this helps.

Low beams work high beams dont

The bulbs have 2 filaments, one for low beam and one for high beam. It's possible both high beam filaments are blown and you just need to replace the bulbs. You can check by measuring the voltage at the high beam terminal. You should see at least 12 volts when you turn on the high beams. If you do, it's the bulbs. If you don't it's likely the switch or the relay (assuming you've verified the fuses are good)

I have a 2006 ford escape and the passenger head light low beam will not work. Tried replacing the bulb, and check fuses nothing is working.. what else can I try?

Both your low beam and your high beam is protected by the same fuse, so it makes sense that the fuse is OK if the high beam is working on the passenger side. There are 3 fuses for the headlamps. Fuse #13 in the Battery Junction Box (20 Amp). If this fuse is blown, the headlamp relay will not have any power and neither high nor low beam on either side will work (you will have no headlamps at all) Then there is Fuses #2 and #3 (15 Amp) in the Battery Junction Box. #2 goes to the left low and high beam and #3 goes to the right low and high beam.
The headlamp switch uses a SINGLE CIRCUIT to control BOTH sides at the same time, so if one side works, the switch cannot be the problem. The headlamp relay provides power for fuses #2 and #3 and we already ascertained that these fuses must have power since we have working lights on both sides, so the relay cannot be the problem. A replacement bulb has already been tried, so that pretty much leaves us with a bad lamp socket. (Most likely cause) or a bad connection at splice #S122, which is located in the main wiring harness near the breakout for the left headlamp. (RED/BLACK wire)

The dim lights don't work on my 2006 Kia Spectra, but the brights do. What could be the problem?

Assume you're referring to 'low beams' not working? and 'high beams' are? Both circuits run they're own relays and fuses, check owners manual for locations, could be faulty relay (check by swapping with high beam relay) or blown fuse. Also find occasionally, both globes blown, high and low beam filaments in same globe

Low Beam Lights won't work. High Beam works fine.

hey
id say check your fuses, if the two lights went at once then its more than likely a case of changing the blown fuse. The fuses are located usually under the dash on the drivers side with some also in the engine bay.
good luck
