Hi geoff, sorry about the info I'm not car savee. it's a 90/91 Subaru Legacy Station Wagon GT 2l Turbo Ex Japanese. I went slowly through all connections and as I was lifting a lead to the spark plug or coil pack it just seperated at a joiner Ha clipped it in fired her up and good to go. Well kind of, because before that It randomly shows "check engine" baulks and stutters sort of thing so I got it scanned the other day at an auto electricians and he scanned two possible failings, a knock sensor and a pressure sensor. He cleared them and asked me to come back as soon as a fault occurs. At this stage I have booked it in a second time because it returned next day.The recheck is free so thats good.
At this stage thanks for the advice to check stuff or I would probably have left it and dunno ... yeah thanks!!

    Hey geoff,
second test showed the knock sensor needed replacing so I got it done. it still baulks and randomly fouls out wich is a pain. It cost a bit for the sensor so all on hold right now. Do you think it's fuel type cause I don't have a clue what to put in it so I use 95. It plays up more in cold start and running but still does it in warmed mode.can you help me please i am not sure what to do or where to go...

    Hi Geoff,
Sorry but I don't know what vehicle brand type means, but... a friend said to me that I have a 'Blow off valve' on it and when i looked at the hoses coming off it they seem fine. One of the attachments is a plastic moulding thing that has tape on it so I took it off and it's cracked bad, so I taped it back on. Will take it to mechanics and see what kind of money cost I'll be looking at and go on from there. I know you wrote more but I have no idea what to do there, do I take it to an electrical guy or a mechanic to get checked..

Gday mate, well with so little info on vehicle brand type, i can only advise that there is a problem put into the vehicle, causes, not all hosses correctly attached to rocker cover, manifold, on many late model vehicles, the pressure in the rocker cover is part of the trail for the M A P sensor on the manifold, also may just be a sensor connection problem, codes for problems are able to be found with a 'launch' or similar diagnostic computer, vehicle may be in "Limp" mode, a mode the computer goes into to get it home when a problem is encountered by the computer, geoff.

Oil get into spark plug well. need to know how to replace the valve cover gasket on a 2003 dodge intrepid sxt . clean sparkplugs well of all oil and replaced sparkplugs

Hi
these are the things you need to do.

Allow the car engine to cool by letting the car sit idle for several hours. Lift the hood and disconnect the negative battery cable. Remove the upper intake manifold assembly. Using the spark plug tool, remove the spark plugs. Disconnect the spark plug wires. This can be accomplished by pulling straight out on the boot. Locate the cylinder head and disconnect the closed ventilation system and evaporation control system from it.

Locate the left cylinder head cover and remove the DIS coil. Using the wrench, loosen and remove the rocker arm cover mounting bolts. Carefully remove the rocker arm cover from the cylinder head. Remove the gasket cover. Using the screwdriver, gently nudge the gasket to remove it from the seating area.

Using the automotive cleaner, remove any particles, oil or other remnants that were left by the old gasket. Place the new gasket in the gasket seating area. Using the torque wrench, tighten the rocker arm cover fasteners. Reverse the steps used to remove the parts

Complete the maintenance by adding oil to the car and allowing it to run idle for 10 to 15 minutes.

I have a 1997 Mitsubishi Galant with rough idle and no power when accelerating. Replaced spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor, spark plug wires, MAF, both oxygen sensors, air filter and the engine still...

I am having the same issue on Mitsubishi Galant 02. Clattering on acceleration, herky jerky idle. Pulled a code multiple cylinder misfire. My mechanic's diagnosis is bad valve cover gasket causing oil to seap into the spark plugs and bad timing belt, which I have not replaced at 150k miles. I do however know my fuel injectors do need cleaning, he hasn't ruled that out either. Have you pulled any code on it? I have read on engine knock sensor going out on some of these also. Hope this helps some.

We have an 02 Liberty 3.7L, here at my repair shop, after customer replaced, spark plug's and all coil pack's, brought it here to my shop, was running with two cylinder's miss, did cylinder compression test, no compression on two cylinder's, remove valve cover's, found two rocker arm's off, remove cylinder head's, and found that on those two cylinder's the valve seat's had drop, keeping the valve open, and that's why the two rocker arm's had come off, do a cylinder compression test, could be the same thing, hope this was very helpful.

Rough idle 1994 chevy pick up k1500 4x4

I had a 96 GMC 1500 with a 5.7 ltr. It would idle rough, especially on start up. After replacing everything under the sun, it turned out the ECM (computer) was shot. I found a used one and plugged it in and it ran fine. I think I paid 50 bucks or so for it. If you know someone with a truck like yours, plug theirs in and see if it fixes it.

2002 chevy malibu-rough idle

where are you taking the car for repairs? try meineke sorry about the spelling, i had gone in there to check to see what the deal was with my car without even having it there the guy told me the issue, so since i was stuck at or close to another shope i got my parts from advance auto and had the other shop put them on. but with your acceleration and everything it sounds like some sort of sensor or a leak some where. pop yur hood while it is rinning and take a water spray bottle and spray around the the headers and stuff. and if you smell to much exhaust coming from the front end could be a smalll issue.
