SOURCE: have no rear parking lamps or dash lights when

In that car the fuse for the rear lights is also the same fuse for the dash lights. They did that so you would know when your tail light were out. Replace the fuse.

SOURCE: 2005 pontiac montana SV6, last

never replace a circuit with a fuse that is stronger than what is asked for as you will then burn the wiring.i would get my hands on a wiring schematic and trace the problem with a tester.once found replace the bad wiring or relay with the right parts and you have succeded.

Check the parking light fuse first. Then check to make sure the switch is actually providing power to the circuit

My rear turn signals are not working. front turn signals work rear parking lights work brake lights work

In the diagram for rear lamp, the top wires are voltage, the bottom black wire is ground. The brown wire on either side should be tail lamps, goes hot when you turn on the headlamp switch. The other top wire on either should be for turn signal. With everything turned on, is there voltage on that wire?
Because the front works and the rear don't, possible wiring circuit problem? The voltage for turn signals comes from bcm. The bcm knows when you turn on turn signal switch, either side, then the bcm sends voltage to turn signal lamp at the rear and front.

I have a jeep liberty 2005 2 wheel drive my passenger side driving light will not come on. Also instrument panel lights will not come on either.

first off ,you did electric work and skipped step 1
pull battery neg lug first.
so you blew the fuses.
what IP lights. all warning lamps.
or just the park lamps in the cluster.
part is called Illumination in said cluster.

where is these other lights, what is a driving light, (park, head, turn, what? brakes?)
tell all lights that work & not , inside and outside car.
tell what knob you turn. can be like 10x better clue...?????
burned sockets are shorted lamps, the brass base lamps love to short inside, (china made x10) get new ones from top maker....

ok, so after replacing the TL assy.
what dont work now, report all lamps.
if it's only outside lamps failing, say so..
i guess you dont know that parking lamps go to like 20+ places, inside and outside car. so. parking lamps are special if acting up
then brake lamps
then blinkers (turn signals)
then reverse.

if the parks (aka, incorrectly TAIL) are bad, then we need to know that. using the correct word.
parks are on all 4 counters, and side lights and inside car.
that is why tail lamp , is a bad name. but fuses are marked as tail on many cars.

also when working on car external lighting
make sure no trailer towing hacks are found.
look for non OEM hack jobs, at the rear corners. Uhual hacks.
or past collision damage to wiring not repaired properly.

how is that>?

My turn signals flash wheni either hit the switch left or right n when brake is applied amber lights come on

Ahh. This is an easy one. The most common cause of problems like this is a failed lamp (bulb). The lamps in most cars are dual-filament lamps. One filament (the dimmer one) is for taillights or front marker lights. The other (the brighter one) is used for brake lights and turn signals.

Sometimes when a bulb fails, one of the filaments breaks and the broken fragment touches the other filament. This connects the light circuit to the brake/turn-signal circuit and you get strange effects like the one you describe.

Fixing this is easy,
  1. Turn on the parking lights. Walk around the car and look for the light (front and rear) that's not on. Replace that defective lamp.
  2. If that doesn't work, turn off the parking lights and turn on the 4-way flashers. Walk around the car and look for the one that's not flashing. Replace that defective lamp.

1993 chevy silverado parking lamps go of when i turn on headlights, signal lights flicker when i press on brake.

Yes I would look for a ground circuit problem. I would look at the ground wires for the headlights first. Even run a new ground wire for the tail lights to see if it helps.
Could be a ground connection for the body to frame or body to battery.

Trying to change a rear light bulb and dont know how to open it up

Rear Turn Signal, Brake & Parking Lights The taillamps, stoplamps and rear turn signals lamps are all incorporated into the rear taillamps. The taillamps are lit whenever the parking lamps or headlamps are in operation. The rear turn signal lamps flash with the front turn signal lamps whenever a turn is indicated with the turn signal/headlamp dimmer switch. The stoplamps light whenever the brake pedal is depressed and the stoplamp switch is closed.

The trim panel is likely held in place with retainers like this. Back out the screw to release tension on the pin legs and remove the fastener

Remove the plastic wing nuts from the taillamp housing

Remove the taillamp housing from the vehicle to service the light bulbs

  1. Open the rear compartment (trunk).
  2. If equipped, unhook the convenience net that stretches between the taillamps. It is attached to hooks molded into the plastic taillamp assembly retaining wingnuts. Loosen the rear compartment trim panel. It is retained by plastic pins with a screw in the center. Back out the screw to release any tension on the plastic pin legs, and pull the trim (thin carpet-like material) for access to the taillamps.
  3. Remove the plastic taillamp assembly retaining wingnuts.
  4. Remove the taillamp assembly from the vehicle and service the light bulbs as required.
  5. Installation is the reverse of the removal process.
  6. Test the lights for correct operation.

Tail lights do not work. Bulbs are good. Both fuses are good(separate cicuits). What else could it be? Is there a relay involved? Could the switch be defective? thanks! Mike

All the exterior lights run threw the turn signal switch. Except the high mount brake light. If you are talking about brake lights replace the TS switch. Parking lights are a little different. If you have no parking lights front and back, TS switch. If you have front and no back, ground problem. Grounds for the back are usually on the drivers side mounted to the frame.
