2006 Nissan Sentra. Belts squeaks and stop seeking when you step on brakes.

If I understand this, your fan and other belts driving components in the engine bay stop squeaking when stepping on the brake? Your belts may need some adjustment to tighten. But it may be a vacuum hose leaking around the power brake chamber, or it is leaking, and sounds like the squeeking you describe. I would temporarily confirm the belt squeak by using a "Belt dressing spray" from your auto parts store, to see if it really is the belt or a possible vacuum leak. My belts squeak sometimes after the first start of the day in cold weather since the alternator is working very hard to recharge the battery after the start. It will be quieter when the engine is slowed down as in your braking scenario.

Sounds like serpentine belt is squeeking

If the squeek stops as the motor warms up replace it. You can also purchase some squeek stop spray and see if that helps before buying a new belt

Trying to change the serpentine belt and cannot loosen the tensioner. Tried to place a 1/2 drive in it but it just wouldn't fit. What to do next??

sounds like a frozen tensioner which causes horrible belt squeek.replace the tensioner as they will sometimes blow apart in the middle of nowhere.

SQUEEKING NOISE FROM BELTS

Look at belt tension, your description sounds like loose belt(s). Do not use belt dressing, only resolves for short period of time...

Squeeking noise when i start the engine, with the engine cold

Probably serpentine belt to loose.
It is common. Have it checked.
Also can be water or oil getting on belt and it starts slippering and makes the noise.
Good Luck

Skeaky serpentine belt

are you positive the squeek is coming form the belt area?

the squeek can be from several other places, fan clutches can cause a high speed squeek, take the fan off and see if that cures it, the water pump front bearing can also be the culprit but that is hard to figure out without swapping in a new water pump, and lastly look at the AC compressor clutch, see if the squeek changes when you turn on and off the AC

hope this helps,
