Hi Ruben, You would help us by telling us what vehicle it is you're inquiring about? The circuits for the controls built into the steering wheel are usually carried in a special cassette which has all the cables molded into a flat Teflon strip. It's located inside the steering wheel and accessed by removing the steering wheel. It is not uncommon for the unit to become defective, folding at the end and breaking the cables inside and causing an open circuit in the operations of the the touch operations. The cables cannot be repaired, meaning that the unit should be replaced. Regards John

Which fuse to change for steering wheel lights and gear shifter lights 2010 ford edge

It's not a fuse , the SJB - smart junction box controls these lights ! This is fords body control module . If the Heater / A/C control panel ,hazard switch ,headlamp switch , message center switch all work, it is not a fuse . The gear shifter I would say the bulb is burnt out . The steering wheel lights could be out because of an open in the clock spring . The clock spring is a device inside the steering column under the steering wheel that keeps your horn , cruise control , radio buttons etc... connected electrically . How cars clock spring works

Where is my fuse located for the cruise control

Would have been very helpful if you would have included the make and model of vehicle you have, along with what year it is.

Not all vehicles are the same; in the problem you're having it might be a fuse, but most likely it's the controller its self. Like if it was a GM, you would replace the stalk out of the steering column, if it's built into the steering wheel, you can either buy (new of used) a new steering wheel.

You have all the informations to find your problem. jump a wire on connector X4 G1 tan wire to ground and check X1 E5 with a test light or multimeter to see if there is a output, you should have 12 volts. If you dont have any voltage the horn relay is defective. I check in the shop manual and the relay come with the underhood fuse block.

Horn and cruise control stop working

There is a device called a "clock spring" inside the steering wheel/column. It contains all the various wires to the buttons on the steering wheel. Sometimes these clock springs that wind and unwind every time the steering wheel is used simply wear out or break causing the problem you cite - no electricity gets to the buttons on the steering whell. Replacing the "clock spring" is mildly expensive. Parts and labor about 400-500 bucks.

Steering wheel radio controls stop working?

Sounds as though you have lost power through the harness in the steering column. This vehicle uses a part called a clockspring that is mounted below the steering wheel and is the device that the signals are transmitted from the steering wheel controls and also are connected to the SRS (supplemental restraint system) air bag in the steering wheel.
I would check the fuses and be sure that there is not a blown fuse , but if there is not a blown fuse it is probably the clockspring and that repair should be diagnosed and then repaired by a qualified technician.

check the main fuses in both fuse boxes, the one in the vehicle and the one under the hood. I'm not positive on your vehicle which one contains the blown fuse, check them with a meter if you have one, Now,, when you say steering controls are you saying that whatever is attached to your steering wheel has stopped working ( radio controls, stuff like that ?) unless they disassembled anything on your steering unit , they are probably right and its just one of those things. but if they did take anything to do with the steering wheel apart, I'd ask them again to double check the work, now if by steering controls your saying the car isn' steering correctly, then it has everything to do with the work they did, and I'd take it right back to them.

I have a 2001 Mercury Cougar and the horn and cruise control stopped working at the same time. What could be the problem?

there is a contained loop of wire under the steering wheel called a clock spring. All of the steering wheel controls are wired through the clock spring. These wires can break causing your symptoms.

Check your fuse box for blown fuses.
