Run a hot wire to it and make sure it has a earth and see if it works is the quickest way ,common fault though to look for is a burnt connection block on top of the unit or a remove the unit and check the wires underneath from the block to the motor ,they do and often burn out

hey 626 fan would this be the sam problem if this is happening in manual transmission. I also have a knock that may or may not be a lifter that happened apprx same time. Thanks for help
