I have oil around the area where my drain plug is but it istn coming from the drain plug and there isnt alot just a bit whats up with my truck?! I hope yall can help.

Could be the gasket for the whole oil pan that's leaking. That would let oil run down the oil pan, to where the drain plug is.

Where theoil pan

Hi, the oil pan is slightly off set from the center of the circle towards the passenger's side, just about in line with the front wheel (the half shaft runs just forward of the pan). You can verify that it is the oil pan because the crank shaft pulley is in line with the front of the pan.
Take care

Transmissions are drained by removing the pan itself. A new filter is to be installed upon draining. That is why there is no drain pan plug. The Chevy Powerglides were the last American made car with a drain plug in the 1965

Hello, my name is Ben. The engine oil is the one towards the front of the truck with the drain plug pointing towards the driver's side. The rear one you see sounds like you are describing the automatic transmission drain plug, it faces straight down.

How do I change the transmission fluid?

Under your car, you need to locate the transmission, big metal thing attached to your motor. On the underside there is a bolt, usually bigger than the rest, that you need to unscrew and it will begin pouring out so have a catch can readily handy. Be careful not to mix up the oil drain plug and the transmission drain plug. Whats the difference? One is on the oil pan, one is on the transmission or transmission pan.

jack van, use safty stands to hold up, put a pan under trany pan to catch fluid, remove blots holding pan, fluid will start to leak out.leave the front bolts for last ,that way theoil leaks out the back, after all bolts are removed then take pan down, pull filter out, install new filter with gasket ring for neck of filter, clean pan and trany, install pan gasket and bolt up.use cross pattern to tighten, just tight alittle dont crush gasket. put in 4 qts,run engine and run through gear, check fluid and add acording to dip stick, hope this is helpful.

Truck has a bad water pump, needs replaced. Also Truck stutters while cuising?

water pump pretty cut n dry replace it ,thermostat & gasket . trans shudder at cruising range --- whats the milage ? 50,000 or more i suggest changing trans fluid & filter . NOT TO BE CONFUSED WITH A TRANS FLUSH 2 totally diffrent service's.. pull pan change filter & there's a plug on some torq-convertors, depending on transmission ,E4OD has the plug, 4R70W AODE do NOT. SO JUST CHANGE WHATS IN PAN & LET IT DRAIN ASA LONG AS YOU CAN. if no plug service twice in a 3 week period. then if it still does it the trans needs to be rebuilt.
