Would not be surprised you have found the answer before you read this.
Believe you have a bearing failed on your crankshaft. If it's a piston rod bearing, it won't be very long in your future before you find pieces of your lower engine block blown out and strewn on the ground. That's the worst case scenario. What makes the engine drag? Too much friction. But a warm engine should have less friction than a cold engine. Just the opposite in your case, and that's significant.. Have someone listen to the knock. Anyone who ever had that knock in their engine before the rod busted or the engine seized up will remember it. Good luck.

Mitsubishi Triton V6 lacks power on acceleration

full power is only achieved when the engine is fully warm(operating temp).so if you accelerate more than, say, a third of the gas pedal,the car will feel sluggish.
this is more apparent when first starting the car in the morning in winter.almost like the car is going to stall.
most wear in the engine is leaving it to idle when cold you should always drive the car straight away from cold.then when hot turn on the a/c if required....

Cold starts ok warms up shakes and stalls

check engine coolant temperature when it gets warmer, or at operating temperature, and verify that the temperature gauge is showing warmed up to operating temperature. If the coolant temperature sensor tells the computer the engine is cold it will over fuel and miss and the engine will die. When cooled down it will run fine until it warms up. Also could be coil if it starts missing after warmed up.

Its very possible its the engine..Try and roll engine over manually and see if it turns. You can also Check the fluids and see if they are all full.Another scenario cold be the trans lock up internally and stop the motor...The clicking sound is the starter trying to turn the motor over but can't.Good luck with your car and have a great day!!!

The problem is due to a lack of compression in the engine when the truck is cold, try using the engine block heater more, or allow more time for the truck to warm up.
