Landrover frelanderTD4 2005 start jerking and black smoke, seems like electronic failure on turbo

It seems like a electronic failure, seeing that airleakage on the pipes will be constant. It sems that the reading (turbo sensor controller) is failing. some times it is fine, and then all of the sudden it jerks with black smoke (to much diesel not burned) and loose power. then after a while it runs smooth again.

You need to have the electronic engine control system scanned for fault codes, that is the very 1st step in diagnosis of this problem.

Check the breather filter, a quick test is pull the oil dipstick and rev engine if oil rises up dipstick replace breather filter straight away as it will blow engine if not

T5 is no power jerking and black smoke

Is it a TDI? if so you may have fuel issues or possibly a turbo issue check and make sure all your hose connections from your turbo to the air to air cooler and air cooler to engine are hooked up also make sure there are no holes or cracks in your air to air cooler. check your air filter. Black smoke indicates you ar buring fuel too much fuel not enouph air in the combustion chamber.

Landrover discovery 1998 td300 down on power

black smoke is an indication of not enough air for the fuel setting
that is from either a air leak in the intercooler or split pipes from the turbo to the manufold
turbo units will have up/down movement as there is clearance in the bushes but as indications are that the turbine is not spinning free enough I would be having the turbo serviced or replaced

Just changed my motor and I am now having trouble with the car once I start to drive it. it i get a blinking check engine light and nothing else lots of smoke in exaust and I noticed that the turbo boost...

well to start, the blinking check engine light means it has a catalyst damaging misfire. is it a 4 cyl or v-6? possible ignition cassette failure. all the smoke and turbo issue could be faulty turbo.

When going along fine my landrover discovery suddenly revs like hell and pushes out big clouds of smoke what could be wrong?

It seems to me that you either have a dirty injector. Maybe you should try using those cleaning additives to the fuel. Tank it up full.

Saab 9-5 blowing white smoke from exhaust

One way to check for a blown head gasket, is to simply smell the coolant reservoir. Pop the cap, and see if it smells like raw gas. Every headgasket, I've diagnosed has had this smell, even if the oil is not contaminated. Another way is to hook up a coolant pressure tester, and run the vehicle for 15-20 mins or so. If the head gasket is blown, the pressure will exceed 15 psi. sometimes as high as 25 psi. If there is oil in the coolant overflow tank, the head is cracked, about 90% of the time.
I'm working on a 03 Saab 95 2.3l t. This vehicle smokes on initial start up, then the smoke disapates, and the vehicle is fine. Another mechanic diagnosed it as bad valve seals. I disconnected the pcv system, and the vehicle no longer smokes. If the valve seals have gone bad, the vehicle will smoke on acceleration. Also if the turbo seals are leaking it will smoke more heavily on acceleration.
