I have the same issue at the moment. The garage are saying that the fuel system is back-flowing and are replacing the filter and filter housing. I will let you know how it gets on, but I'm not convinced this is the issue. The car runs really lumpy even after it's started, so I would imagine this is more of a sensor/ECU issue. Mine is also an 07.. Sadly I worked in the factory that makes them at this time, so feel I have to shoulder some of the blame lol

Could be weak solenoid. It is a magnatized cylinder with a metal piston and a fork. The fork moves the starter gear out to engage with flywheel. The solonoid can be weak or the starter brushes (little magnets inside rub to make electricity) may be wearing out. You can buy rebuild kits for these for $4 Much cheaper but more work to dismantle. Or get new starter and solenoid from scrap yard for $40 or new for $120

SOURCE: mercaides bad starting 1992 190 e

By the sounds of it your problem is that either the battery wants charging or replacing
Points set to bigagap and distributor and cap may not be seating correctly also check on the leads and Plugs for the correct gap
Have you played with the timing if not ok
The 190 is a lovley car look after it....

SOURCE: our kia wont start it just clicks when you turn

hi, it could be down to a couple of things the first could be that your battery is flat you can test this by turning the head lights on full beam and if they are really bright then turn the key to start the car if the lights go out or go dim then this indicates your battery is flat and will either need charging or replacing.

If the lights stay bright and the battery is charged then this would indicate that you have problems with the starter motor and this could need replaicing.

Let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

the first step is to have the fault codes read. They will point you in the right direction so that you do not waste time and money chasing your tail in the quest for the fix

Timing belt or chain

Toyotas usually have chain if that is what you were asking and Auris started to have chain since 2007 model IIRC.

My toyota will not start properly

Starting of diesel engine depends on:
1. Cranking speed of the starter motor. (250 rpm)
2. Pre-heating system.
3. Cylinder compression.
Check all of the above.

problem is caused by ignition timing. your ignition timing is overly advanced.

have a mechanic check your ignition timing. adjustments in timing are done in distributor, camshaft pulley, and crackshaft pulley.
