X type jag ,boot jammed down ,problem as you cannot get through from the back seat as the petrol tank is their ,what you do is take the cover off of the bottom where the lever is and work through their ,i do have a spare one in the garden if you have a problem with parts or unsure and in the morning when its light i will have a proper look on how to open it up ,i have a workshop manual but it says nothing on how to open a jammed or faulty locked one only open the boot and take out the bolts to remove the whole assembly so please post a reply later and let me knoe exactly it is your trying to sort out and i will pratice on this old one in the garden ,i only keep it for spares for my other jag which is my sunday car fine weather only ,i just cannot afford the petrol for it to be honest .

SOURCE: Can not open trunk, Jaguar s-type

Look under the "U" in "Jaguar" on the chrome strip on the trunk. You'll find a key slot where you can insert your ignition key. You may have to remove the license tag frame (if you have one) to get the key into the slot.

Look at this video. There is a secret keyhole in the trunk lip outside. Put your remote key into it and open the trunk. One in there you can find a light connector and attach a battery charger to it.

Jaguar 2003 x-type. Trunk will not open with key. THERE IS NOT APLACE TO MANUALLY USE KEY FOR OPENING TRUNK.


You will need to locate IP5 pin 16 on the General Electronic Control Module
that sits RH side behind your instrument panel (UK Car) .
IP5 is the large brown 23 way connector that goes into the module.
Take this pin to ground then your boot will pop open.

2000 s type jaguar


I had the same problem when my alternator drained my battery.Underneath where the licence plate light is mounted there is a key hole on the right hand side.Any black headed key will open the trunk.

jump start the car or charge the battery from under the bonnet(hood) ,look for a plastic cover on the firewall with a big + on it negative is the engine
