I have a 1973 Triumph GT6 The Gearbox is the same except it has different ratios. The best oil I have found to use is Castrol Multitrax 80/140 with 10% moreys additive.(no additive with overdrive)

swap your shockers see if it is then on the opposite side. I fyes replace your shockers if no rotate your leafspring as well but not before inspecting the rubber spacers. If they are squashed perished and or missing then replace with poly washers (do a search for this).

Jumping out of third was a common problem with the Spitfire quick changing up from forth gear would beat the syncro and chip the teeth on the drive dog then the bits would stop the syncro from engaging fully and it would jump out. If you replaced the syncro and the drive hub it may just be a bit stiff, the selector also wore quite quickly and misaligned the drive hub causing it to be hard to select.
I will scratch about in my very old manuals and see if I can find the spitfire gearbox manual, If I can I will post it.

Mine have done exactly the same. worked perfectly before but stopped doing so on the day it was booked in for MOT! Looking at the wring diagrams, it seems that the hazard light circuit is linked to the stop lamp circuit. I noticed my hazards have been playing up lately so there's the starting point.
If I sort it, I'll post the solution. Point of note - my brake lights have never worked with the ignition turned off, only when on. I've had five Triumphs - two 1500 Spits and three Sprints and they were the same regards this.
