Question about 2002 Audi A4

Open Question

What is the valve timing marks of audi,A4,2.4,2002 model?

I'm busy with it,and it gave me the code 16725,i,ve changed the r-side cam sensor it still gave me the same code.i,had removed both cylinder heads to fit new valves.now when i start the engine,it don't start and the compression is low on both sides.that is why i think about valve timing marks can be not right.i align the rear cam caps mark with the one on the camshafts.but i'm not sure about the marks now.please help with the drawing/sketch.

SOURCE: Cam position sensor error.

It's not enough only rebuild yours engine !!!
After new camshaft position sensor instalation and timing perfectly alignment you must scan the engine control computer and erase these error, actually all errors stocked in memory. The best scantool is VAS device used by VW-Audi dealers, VAG-COM by RossTech (cable + software 704.014, 805.01, ... on CD), or also Bosch KTS 540, 570, 670, ...
RESET = erase errors from the engine control computer memory !
Yours engine control computer don't understand if you only replace damaged sensors with new others! Errors still remains in memory affect engine runing!
Best regards!

2001 audi a4 quatro 2.8l DOHC check engine light is flashing and my scanner gave the fault code p0305 and a pending code p1340 . What should I do tofix the problem?

p 0305 is misfire on no 5 cylinder code p1340 refers to camshaft (CMP) sensor 1 bank/ crankshaft position (CKP) sensor ---out of sequence === causes ---valve timing--CMP/CKP sensor installation---CKP sensor rotor
misfires are more injector problems that plugs
take it to an authorized service center for the position senor and valve timing problems

99 a4 2.8 audi quattro just put heads on car set timing all timing marks and holes line up ,when turning engine over by hand u can here valves clicking on cam on drivers side head.cam not set right ?

i have a 99 audi a4 2.8 quattro i got the car and the timing belt snapped or somthing idk before i got the car but i ended up swapping the heads from a junkyard i had engine code AHA heads which had severe bent valves i did a compresson test and came back bad and swapped them from a vw passat with ATQ heads got all the head gaskets and all gaskets off ebay...the timing belt making sure everything is lined up correctly is crucial if it looks the slightest bit off on the cams you better do it again there tricky the marks for the cams are under the valve covers on the back side of the heads each cam will have a small square notch the should line up perfectly with the lines if they dont somthings not right on the heads on the flywheel/crankshaft pully..idk what its called theres a mark down there too that lines up with the flywheel/crankshaft pulley and plastic cover ..but i remember i lubed all the cams and valves down with oil before i put the the valve covers back on i remember mine tapped a little bit on first start up but it got quieter and quieter within 5 min of ideling ...also make sure you dont have the timing 180 degrees out i guess i got lucky make sure i think #1 is on compression stroke not exaust stroke

if its throwing a code for cam sensor but new sensor does not fix it given the fact of recently replacing the timing chain id say it sounds like the timing was not set correctly which is causing the cam sensor to receive abnormal readings throwing the check engine light on. pull cover and check timing mark placement against specifications

and engine needs fuel, spark and air to run. If you are sure you have fuel and spark, the timing is the last thing to check. Your engine is provided with external alignment marks. take out all of your plugs, and by hand, turn your engine over until you see your harmonic balancer (pulley your belt is on at the bottom of the engine/crank) alignment marks meet with the marks on the engine block. Next you need to look at your cam gears. You might have to pull a plastic cover, or the valve cover off to see the cam gears. The cam gears have alignment marks as well. If all marks line up together at the same time, timing is not the issue. the timing belt is an iffy design. The timing belt tensioner could be warn out and only show signs or being warn out every now and then. your tensioner could have loosened up, caused your belt to jump, and clamp back again.

If you disconnect the Cam sensor with key on or engine running then you will get a Cam sensor code,If you disconnect and the vehicle runs yes you will get a Cam code (because its disconnected it will state Cam sensor high),If your vehicle has jump timing belt you will also get a MAF code. You may want to get the MAF check out,For now review your timing markscansmo_219.gifcansmo_220.gif

chances are the valves are bent,as for timing marks then its not difficult TDC no1 and valves for no1 closed with inlet about toi open ,easy then in that position look for the timing marks ,basic motor mechanics ,timing a engine with no marks at all ,pt 2 city and guilds motor mechanics exam.

Timing OK?

You did it the right way. If you tried to make a full cam revolution you would have hit the pistons with the valves. Put the lower timing cover and crank pulley back on. If the cam marks are aligned right and the mark on the lower timing cover lines up with the mark on the crank pulley, you're good to go.
