I have a 2004 Dodge Stratus, the car could be cold and the temp reads right in the middle and the fan is on. When I drive it, the temp gauge goes to hot and the temp light goes on. Radiator is full, thermostat was just replaced, sensor has been replaced twice in the last year.....any ideas, am I hurting the car by driving it this way, and no it doesnt overheat and the heat is just warm, not hot.

The thermostat I had bought was just a cheap one, I bought the failsafe thermostat and replaced the temp sensor...The car has been running great ever since! I think the thermostat was bad and was the sensor was telling my car it was hot so it wouldnt start...

SOURCE: 2001 Stratus 2.4 Thermostat? 35 degrees, Gauge does not climb to

i am not 100% sure but, some thermostats are inhose and most are in the engine block near the water pump. also it could be a goose neck with 2 bolts..if in hose it will be the upper hose where it comes out of the block..good luck... let me know what you find. i like feedback....

SOURCE: 2002 dodge stratus 2.4 litter

get a Haynes manual and see if the water hose has a bleeder screw on a line that is up higher than most.
Usually a small line that runs over the top of the motor. I had this happen on a chevy Malibu and I just had to open the screw while running (but not hot) to bleed the air out of the line.

2000 dodge stratus. Heater only works at idle, when driving at high speeds, heater blows cold and thermostat gauge goes to cold. Back flushed heater core, new thermostat any ideas?

I'd say you have a faulty thermostat, be it new or not. If your temperature gauge goes to cold as your engine is taking you down the highway, the thermostat is not doing its job. The temperature should never come down to below normal until engine is shut off...

Check oil level on dipstick. Check for loose connection on oil pressure sender unit. Have the oil pressure checked using a master gauge.

At what temperature should the radiator fan come on for a 2004 dodge stratus?

You may or may not have a problem with the fan. It should come on around 220 degrees or when the ac is running.
The temp on the gauge and the temp the computer sees can be 10 or 15 degrees different either way.

2004 dodge stratus R/T with 2.7 heater blows cold air and it has coolant and new thermostat and the overflow boils over without the temp gauge being above halfway. how do you fix that?

Sorry to say but i have had plenty of experience with dodge vehicles and have ran into this problem before.....its your head gasket sucking air...(hence the bubbles in your overflow tank isnt from being hot....its the air escaping from your engine)......Plus the posiblility of your heater core being clogged....

2002 dodge stratus temperature gauge is fluctuating

its possible that you have a head gasket starting to go bad and driving it at a higher speed the engine gets hotter and can force combustion chamber gasses into the cooling system causing a higher temp showing up on the can get a block test down that hopefully show it up depending how early in the stage the gasket has deteriated.sound this as a diagnostic sign back in the early 80`s.

No Heat, fan blows cold air, car dosn't overheat and no smell from coolant

If the engine temp gauge reads like normal, then you either have a bad heater core, or the valve that feeds the engine coolant to the heater core is stuck shut. If the temp gauge seems to be on the cold side, or fluctuates from normal to cooler than normal and back, it may be your thermostat is stuck open.

MY 2004 Dodge Stratus blows warm air when car is moving cold are when car is stopped

The thermostat may be a problem, also check to see if the fans are running constantly, low coolant level would definately affect the heat. some things to check, if you have a temp gauge make sure that the car is getting up to operating temp. sometimes people remove thermostats, because cars overheat in the summer. this could be a problem also.
