And it was alright before? Maybe you got a bad wire or plug? Try putting the old one back in or on and see if it is ok. Defective parts are sold everyday.

One often overlooked item is the spark plug leads themselves! They don't last forever - Some start breaking down internally after only a couple of years, and although you still get a spark at the plug, it is not a very healthy spark.
If they haven't been changed, it is well worth giving it a go.

check fuel injectors, fuel pressure regulator, air filter. cat converter, O2 sensor. failure of any of these wastes fuel. air/fuel ratio should be normal.
