SOURCE: wont start w/ key

Have you checked your starter and battery ? Check that the battery is fully charged or jump the car with another one. If it cranks the engine and starts it is a bad battery and/or connections. Clean the cables. If it clicks only once, it is the starter. If it does not even move the motor. it is probably your ignition relay or the switch itself.

SOURCE: how to change disc brake pads on 1990 subaru

These calipers require a depression tool that turns and pushes the piston in...pressing alone will not work.

SOURCE: When compressing the front brake calipers do you

no you dont have to open bleeder, you will not mess anything up i do it all day long, the reason for opening the bleeder is so they say you dont push debris from caliper into abs, but every time you step on the brake and release it fluid is flow in and out of abs, if you feel better by opening bleeder go ahead youll just have to bleed brakes when your done , good luck, hope this is helpful.

I need to change the pads on my 1991 Lebaron. Do the caliper pistons need to be turned as they're compressed like on some cars or can i just compress them without turning them?

The only time you need to turn and compress a piston on a caliper is on a vehicle that is equipped with rear calipers that also act as the emergency brake. These can be easily identified because the e-brake cable will attach to the caliper. The reason why they need to be turned is the parking brake works with a ratcheting mechanism inside of the caliper. The mechanism is overidden be turning the caliper and the caliper compresses.

Front brake service for a 1995 subaru legacy. Repair calipers and new pads how to do it?

Calipers need repairing only if they leak. Remove tire then calipers. Remove brake pad from calipers. Compress pistons in brake caliper and install new brake pad. Replace calipers and tire.

2004 Ford Mustang. Replaced front brake caliper.

IF THERE ARE 2 PRONG OR TAB LOOKING THINGS IN THE PISTON THEN THE PISTONS NEED TO BE SCREWED IN TO MOVE BACKWARDS TO ALLOW BRAKE PAD TO FIT..DO NOT COMPRESS THEM WITH A C-CLAMP OR IT IS BAD..ANY AUTO PARTS STORE CAN LOOK AT THIS AND TELL YOU FOR SURE..SREW TO THE RIGHT TO COMPRESS

Changing front brake pads FIRSTTIME

You can compress the piston with a large C clamp. Screw type pistons are generally at the rear, when caliper is also used as emergency brake. I generally use the inner brake pad to protect the piston from damage while compressing it. If it does not retract it may be frozen or the rubber line going to it has internally failed. After completing change, pump brake a few times to re-set piston position so you have brakes.

How do I get my front brakes off my 1991 subaru loyale?

First you remove the wheels
#2 remove the 14mm bolt on the bottom of the calliper and swing the caliper up out of the way of the brake pads. It will pivot on the upper stud the caliper is on.
# 3 remove the pads out of the bracket.
NOTE you will need a special tool to "turn" the caliper pistons back in so you can fit it over the new brake pads.
