SOURCE: Rear end noise

Well it can be quiet a job the truck is 13yr old and all the nuts and bolts get rusted and will have to be cut off probly. The dealers go over board some times on what needs to be fixed. What i would try first is remove the rear diff cover and drain all the grease out go to napa or a parts store and buy a product/grease called lucas oil and fill the diff with this and give it a try first if all elese fails i would look around at a junk yard for a used rearend and have them put it in probly be the cheapest way .

SOURCE: 97 ford e150 van inside windshield steams up. is

the heater core is located in the black box that is in the pictures (see below). To get access to it, you will need to remove the blower housing. The blower housing will separate from the main HVAC box, and will give you some space once it is out. Then we need to wrestle the main box loose from the firewall. That means dealing with the A/C pipes, heater hoses, vacuum hoses, mounting stud nuts under the hood and mounting bolts inside. Once the box is moving, the dash needs to "get floppy" so you can pull back the passenger side far enough to give the main HVAC box enough room pull away from firewall, and to "roll" back towards you. At this point the heater pipes will be visible, and the cover that contains the heater can be removed. It's a big job. Your car has A/C. The description in the haynes book is for a car w/o A/C. If you're not comfortable with plastic dash board removal, this job is not for you

I have a 98 Ford E150 conv. van need to replace complete rear end need to figure out which one I have and what yr will interchange and if a truck rear end work or only a van

Hello Brenda...you will find some identifying information on the actual real axle casing. Stamped numbers, I.D. tag or you can search your VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) or make, model year and series on the internet to see what options were available for rear end gearing ratio's.

Yes you should stick with a similar or identical rear end to ensure proper mounting bracket alignment and gear ratio choices. Dana Model 60, 70 & 80 Axles are not internally identical.

Looks like the standard differential carrier for the E150 is a 8.8" (*10 bolt). Standard, Includes Spider gears, 31 spline, 7/8" shaft.

* Ten Bolt - The rear end cover plate contains 10 mounting plate bolt holes.

I'm a getting a 95 astro van from a relative he says the rear differential is done it makes a thumping noise when driving what could it be and would it be better to get another rear end or just replace the...

Depends on what parts are needed. They range from $20.00 to several hundred. First find out where the noise is. Start at the drive shaft, check the universal joints.Check wheel bearings/ seals for leaks. Take off the rear cover and look at the differential. check for missing teeth. missing clips , metal on the bottom. Let me know I can help.

Suspect a worn left side spider gear or it's bearing in the differential. If a limited-slip differential, the left side clutch may be grabbing somewhat. In any case, the differential will need to be removed from the case to service any worn or defective components. Rear end service is not for inexperienced mechanics. Have you checked the fluid level in the differential? Hope this helps!

What tuneup should I do at 65000

no tune up needed until 100000 miles. run a couple of fillups of Shell or Chevron premium gas thru it to clean out fuel system and clean engine. Walmart fuel station also have gas additive you can buy with your gas.

Thud Thud Thud noise from centre rear back undercarriage of my 2005 dodge grand caravan. Can this be the rear differential? Veh only has 80000 kms.

Your Caravan has no rear differential. The van is a front wheel drive, you may have a bad brake or your spare tire under the back of the van is lose. the other thing to look for in the back is the rear shocks could be broken or lose. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help get your van running 100% again soon.

Rear end noise when i let off the throttle

Check the U joints, there more common to go bad then the differential, unless you are low on differential fluids. You can take it to a drive line shop and have them replace the u joints and differential fluid and also have them readjust the ring and pin in the differential to give you more life out of the rear end. Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to answer any questions you may have.

This rear end needs to be replaced or re-built. The gears and or bearings are worn/shot. May be able to get a complete rear end from a Junk yard for much less, one in good condition. Good Luck
