Audi A3 Dashboard Lighting Problem

Hi, I'm having real bad luck with my car at the moment, I've just had to pay to get my bonnet open and now my dashboard light has decided to stop working grrrr. From what I can see the rest of the lights work apart for the illumination light which lights up the console, it does turn on but is very dole. I've tried turning the thumb wheel but this has no effect what so ever. I've looked through the owners manual to see if a fuse has blown but I can't see one labelled for this, I've also looked through both sets of fusing in the car and engine but can't see one that's blown. Does anyone have an idea of what the problem might be? Thanks Ross

SOURCE: Left rear brake light stopped working but bulb and fuses are OK.

take the bulb back out have someone sit in car apply brake get your self a circuit tester and check to see if this circuit is carrying efficient 12 volt current! some times in cold weather these bulbs get hot with long period of breaking and when released condensate and rust begins and you get what you have perhaps bad socket! this would be a ideal location to begin and probably end,

Cant open my bonnet on my audi a3 think cable is stretched need to check water oil etc

You need to see a dealer on this, the car needs to more than likely be on a car lift to reach the latch to release it.

There is a wrench icon near the dashboard. Push it when the car is stationary (it won't work when the car is moving) and you will see the other functions.

Hi, the bonnet open light keeps going on and off whilst driving, when it is on the windscreen washers do not work and when the engine is off the alarm keeps going off

Hi,

I just wondered if you have had this repaired yet and what was causing it as my Audi A3 2005 model has exactly the same problem!!

In response to bs77bird - the two things are definatley related. When i am stationary and the bonnet light is on neither my front wipers or my windscreen wash work. when im moving, my wipers do work, but my windscreen wash still doesnt. When the light turns itself off occasionally, both the wipers and windscreen wash work when im stationary and moving.

Any help would be great as i dont want to get ripped off for something i could potentially fix myself!
