Sounds like the timing somewhere along the line but iam a europeon mechanic with no pratical experiance of this american car although i have done some work on them like by-passing the immobilisor ,so i do not know if this vehicle has a distributor or not to help you anymore so i suggest you try a direct question to emmisionwiz as this man is a american ford mechanic and will know a lot more than myself ,now ask me about a renault or a citreon even a moskovitch or a trabant but this iam afraid is out of my league unless i had vehicle in front of me with head under the bonnet then i would sort it thats for sure

SOURCE: Won't Start.

These trucks have a problem with the catalytic convertor blocking the exhaust causing a no start condition, the three things you need to start fuel, spark and air. Try disconnecting exhaust in front of cat.

SOURCE: 1995 Ford Explorer wont start

before the fuel are coming to the injectors block is entered in a litle box like valve, is coming there with a ruber tube open it there and let your wife to crank and see if fuel is coming right up there. if yes se your spark plugs and spark wires because there are not working or probably a high tension coil isn giving too much current to spare in sparc plugs. if no so check yor fuel pump and his way from the tank in the point you are looking for.

1998 Ford Explorer. 4.0 liter. SOHC Good fuel pressure. & good fire on plugs. Changed crankshaft sensor . Still wont crank, No fuel is getting thru the Injectors.

check for a problem cam shaft censor as well as a crank position sensor as both are required to be operational for the ECM to start the engine

It cranks, but why won't it start?

If it did not start on fluid sounds like you may have a fuel problem. Is the fuel filter ok and clear, are the injectors putting out fuel. As to the fire you can put a spark tester on the plug and see if the fire is strong or not or take the plug out and ground it to the engine and see if it is firing, just be careful not to get grounded to the plug as it will shock you.

Just changed plugs on 1994 ford explorer and it wont turn over wondering if its the gas ladder or fuel relay switch

Is it not turning over or not firing? If not firing, it could be bad crank sensor, coilpacks, or module
If no spark

If no fuel, bad fuel pump relay, plugged fuel filter, or low fuel pressure.

ok, i tell you 3 possible causes.
check maf sensor connection , check fuel pressure regulator (max press fuel in rail 40 psi) , check engine compression (min 95 psi ) if less this cause spark plugs wet and not start

Sounds like either a bad plug wire, or coil pack. This is about all that would cause the misfire.
