Question about 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT

1 Answer

Mitsu 3000GT Auto Transmission

I have a 95 3000GT and recently I had an automatic transmission problem. The car goes through 1st, then all of a sudden slams into 3rd gear skipping 2nd. It also seemed to just rev after 3rd gear, like overdrive wasn't engaging. I tried turning OD off and it drives a little bit better, still skips 2nd gear and slams into third though. At the same time reverse went out. If I put it in reverse it acts like it's in neutral. Any thoughts? Is my transmission toast? I really don't want to dump a ton of money into it, so if there's a solution that doesn't require a completely new transmission I'd be interested in trying it.

3000gt transmission

Hi,
Look on a 3000GT forum (search on Google) to find out how to read the transmission codes. I bet they are stored in the transmission computer. This will tell you what needs fixed.

Also, does sound like the shifter may be out of adjustment. Maybe a cable is broken or loose.

Tansmission all the sudden wont shift from 1st

  1. Check your Shift Cable at the Shifter, and at the Transmission. More than likely the Shift Cable came loose at the Shifter.

95 Geo Tracker - Automatic. Starts ok, but when

It needs a fluid change, and filter,in the transmission, also, add a additive called LUBEGUARD from napa auto parts, when you ask for the additive,be sure to get the one for gm,this additive keeps the valve body slick, and moving, this is the problem, your filter, and ,or,the fluid is dirty, and causing hydraulic problems, and valves to stick in the valve body in the transmission.

Fork engaging slave cylinder from tranny. (91 3000GT, mitsu)

Called a clutch fork Holds the thrust bearing right? and goes through the clutch (Bell) housing Got to be careful here or Is it the rod that goes directly into the slave cylinder? Either way as long as the rest of the cars ok it's worth keeping If it's the clutch fork you going to have to remove gearbox (Not the end of the world) Part won't be that expensive

Power antenna motor on my 3000gt is out and i need instructions

Access is behind the left hand panel in the hatch/trunk area. (Your car is left hand drive, correct? Not a GTO?) Only have to remove a few screws to get to it. Then a couple more bolts to remove the antenna motor. No, they cannot be rebuilt, and new ones from Mitsu are VERY expensive. You might want to buy a generic model from Advance, Auto Zone or NAPA.
