Cylinder 1 is the number 1 combustion chamber, you know, where the pistons are.

If it's a V6 they normally count from the front of the car or engine starting at the driver side.

Drive cycle

First take it to autozone and see if there is no codes..They do it for free...If there is no codes and there is not a p1000 then your good.. You have to do a drive cycle ..Kinda hard to do without a scanner,,but let it set overnight..The fuel level has to be between 3/4 to 1/4 no more no less..Let the vehicle warm up Go out on the road and drive about 40mph real steady ..Try not to accelerate after about 10 mins of steady driving ,,then drive about 50 to 60 for about 5 mins and then stop and idle for about 5 mins..At this time ,,dont turn the car off or you have to start over..Only way to know if the system passed is to have the system scanned..If your trying to get the emmision done,

88 Trans-Am GTA 350 5.7 TPI fuel injected...Car will start and run 10 mins and then just die. Wont start for 2 hours and then when it does start it only runs 10 mins then dies again. Dont know what to do...

Your fuel filter may need to be replaced and the other area that needs to ab addressed would be a ICM (ignition control module) going bad. Common for ether issues to cause you the same problems.
You can have your ICM tested at Auto Zone free of charge and you can also pick up the fuel filter from there.
Thank you for using fixya and good luck

Fuel pressure intermittently drops causing sputter and die.

check for 12v constant at your fuel pump if you are not getting that replace your relay.
if you are getting 12 volts at your fuel pump the fuel pump is possible to run tuel it gets warm then shut down to a lower rpm I would then replace the fuel pump

The car will run for 10 to 15 min then die then 5 to 10 min after it dies it will start again. it has the 6 cyl

I've seen this with several vehicles within the mid 90s (including a 95 probe) and traced it back each time to the electronic ignition. As the car drives, the ignition coil heats up and becomes more resistive. As this happens, the coil outputs less voltage until finally it's not enough to put out sufficient spark to fire the cylinders.

Try this: Drive the car around for a while. When you start feeling the motor struggle, park somewhere and idle until it dies. Then quickly pop the hood, pull an ignition wire, pop in an extra plug and hold near the block (check for fuel leaks first!!) and observe the spark strength. If it looks weak, a new electronic ignition unit will solve your problem.

Car dies while driving

You need to replace the control module in the distributor. It shorts out when it gets hot, thus losing spark, then cools, and the spark returns (to the plugs).
