Question about 2008 GMC Acadia

1 Answer

Ticking noise there is a ticking sound when accelerating. it only happens when car is warmed up, and it only happens when you accelerate. when the car is in park and you rev the engine, the sound is not there. it seems to happen when the tire hits a certain spot, the car car has been in the dealership for a week, and the mechanic and the gm engineer cannot solve the problem

A small exhaust leak can sound like a ticking noise during acceleration and can get better or worse as the system heats up. I had a similar problem when the engine was cold that was solved with a new exhaust manifold gasket.

What is causing a loud ticking sound instead of a normal boat engine sound when accelerating in my boat?

One of the spark leads has come off or has chafed against something wearing away the insulation, thus the ticking sound, spark going elsewhere instead of the spark plug. Make sure the plug leads are secure and in good condition, make sure no water has entered the engine cyl head area

Ticking noise under hood/ possibly tranny

First thing I would check is the oil level. Sounds like a upper engine (valvetrain) problem. If oil level is ok then you will need to pull valve cover to inspect for proper upper oiling.

Ticking sounds like a dry lifter, when was the last time you changed the oil and filter? Humming sounds like you need a tire rotation because of uneven tire wear.

Exhaust leaks, like a manifold or loose plug will sound like a tick inside the car,if it is louder when it is cold, suspect something more serious ,like a piston.
if the tick only happens when u turn,it's an axle joint.

It sounds like an exhaust leak where the exhaust manifold meets the cylinder head. V-8? The studs have a tendency rust off and the manifold is not held tight anymore. Bummer!!

Ticking noise when i take off,

if it only happens on acceleration check your cv joints.....if it happens when you first start the car it is probably a dry hydraulic lifter...they sometimes drain down when the car is idle and will tick when you first start the car....
