A factory anti-theft system does not have a reset button.

Have you tried a different key?

SOURCE: how do you reset the anti theft system

Try disconnecting your battery cables then wait about 10 minutes. The computer should reset itself. Reconnect the wires to the battery. It is normal for the theft light to blink about every 5 seconds when the ignition key is out or in the off position. This means the system is armed and working properly. Hope this helps. God bless!

SOURCE: 1988 ford ranger 4x4. Push button for on the fly

That would be the actulator on the transfer case. More than likely it needs replaced. Check for good connection at the plug on the tranfer case.

SOURCE: anti theft system lock down need to unlock...it

Put the key in the ignition, and turn forward all the way just before cranking. Then within 5 seconds, locate, press and hold in the valet/overide button, found under the dash area, (push button, spring loaded)until the installed LED (the blinking light) in your dash area goes on solid, and the siren chirps once (your valet switch might be the toggle (on/off) type. in this case, key on, flip switch in opposite direction, then turn the key off.).

This should reset the alarm, and resetthe grounded relay on the starter wire, allowing you to start the engine.

At this point, the only thing working would be the keyless entry from the alarm, if it came equipped that way.

Just Repeat these steps to place itback to usable armed mode. You may get 2 chirps, confirming it,and the lights may flash twice as well. That should do it.

Does a base ranger with no power window or locks have a anti theft system?

You can tell if you have theft light flashing or if your key is thick oval or thick square. They all had PATS system unless the ranger was specially made for for some fleet companies and had those options removed.

2003 ford ranger theft light blinking and won't start

the anti-theft has been activated and needs to be reset.you may have to get it to a shop that has the tools to do this or go to the dealer to get it done.did you use a key that was cut as a spare and doesn`t have a chip in it.this usually can cause this.also if the wires at the switch break it can activate the anti-theft system.

Recently heard that a 2003 ford explorer sport trac had a anti-theft swith/button on floorboard that when activated will not allow vehicle to start. Where is that located? thanks

don't know about anything like that. I know Ford did put the emergency fuel shut-off switch on the passengers side floor up under the dash just behing the carpet on Rangers and were sometimes unplugged by passengers with long legs. It has a little red button on it that pushed down. Check to see if you have something like that. Maybe it shuts off when the anti-theft alarm is activated and has to be reset.
