I have looked and looked for the fuel filter on my 1996 chevy beretta and cant seem to find it. I want to either clean it or replace it once I find it. The reason to that is because I was told it could be the reason why when Im in park with my foot on the gas, once half way down, the engine stutters. Also when I am driving and I step on the gas a little hard to have it pick up and go real quick, it jerks you then goes for a sec or two then back down again. Another thing I noticed is when, if the car has been sitting for about two days, I go to back out or pull foward out of my parking space and without touching the gas-then the car slowly moves forward and jerks you a lot like back and forth..........PLEASE HELP an 18 YEAR OLD out

The 6.9L and 7.3L diesel engines use a one-piece spin-on fuel filter. Do not add fuel to the new fuel filter. Allow the engine to draw fuel through the filter.
Remove the spin-on filter by unscrewing it counterclockwise with your hands or a strap wrench.
Clean the filter mounting surface.
Coat the gasket or the replacement filter with clean diesel fuel. This helps ensure a good seal.
Tighten the filter by hand until the gasket touches the filter mounting surface.
Tighten the filter an additional 1⁄2 turn.
NOTE: After changing the fuel filter, the engine will purge the trapped air as it runs. The engine may run roughly and smoke excessively until the air is cleared from the system.
how do you know it needs fuel lines, are they leaking? is fuel pump good?did you do fuel pressure test? did you chk. to see if filter is pluged? just because the tank leaks won't keep it from running and that can be fix with a little apoxey and a some elbo grease.
