Question about 1989 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera
I have an 89 olds cutlass ciera sl that was given to me, and started first-time, every-time when I got it. It sat for about 4 months, and tonight I installed a new battery and tried to start it to no avail. The interior lights get really dim and I hear a loud click, but the engine won't turn over. The radiator is still in good shape and the coolant is good, but i did notice small amounts of smoke coming from the main block. Could this be a starter or alternator, or is it something easily solved by changing the oil or replacing the distributor cap and spark plugs?
It's more likely to be the starter than the alternator but first i would make sure the new battery is fully charged.
