Sounds like it might be your idle control solenoid,or mass air flow sensor. This will require a scan by a mechanic to confirm what is going on.good luck

I have a 98 Malibu when I turn it over it runs rough then dies

It can be issue with IAC( idle air control valve) causing the problem.

There are many other possibilities causing these idle issues. Engine idles rough.

There are few help links with solutions to troubleshoot such idle issues.

I suggest you refer the link below and follow its troubleshooting details:------

I have an 2003 Lancer ES with a rough idle. It sometimes shuts off.

If you want this fixed seriously because mine was doing the same thing and people kept getting me to buy all this **** i didnt need for my 03 lancer es and all i did was unplugged the MAF (mass air flow sensor) and it was perfect all over again. I was pretty upset figering this out yesterday. Just unplug it and turn your car over and let it idle a min. If all symptoms go away buy a new MAF sensor from a parts dealer for like a buck eighty.

Will not idle when first started. it starts and dies..after it warms up a little by holding the excelarater down, it then idles properlyl

Have the IAC (idle air control) valve checked or replaced. This unit controls airflow throught the intake-engine when the gas pedal isn't pressed!!

Car dies when engine is put in park. Engine is warm already.

This can be cuased by a sludged up engine throttle valve and automatic idle speed control valve, do the following procedure and this should fix it.

To correct this problem I want you to get a can of intake cleaner (ABOUT $5.00) from any local auto parts store like NAPA or Carquest, do not use carburetor spray, intake cleaner only or u will damage the Teflon coating inside the throttle valve and air bypass valve, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

My 95 3000gt SL idles funny, and jumps all around. im not sure if its the air sensor, or alternator. when revved up to 2k rpm it jumps a lil and when i let off it goes down to near zero and almost dies....

If you can get it to an Auto Zone they can test the alternator for you while it is on the car running, but sounds like you may have to take the alternator off and carry it in. May be cam position sensor or IAC (idle air control) valve.
