SOURCE: 1998 Ford Explorer sport 4.0L 4x2 PCV Valve Location

the pcv is located on the rear(firewall) of the drivers side valve cover.turn counterclockwise and pull to remove be careful there are 2 small tabs inside the pcv hole in the valve cover(can feel with small finger) this is to hold valve in place so it wont leak.if you have a oil leak at the pcv a quick fix is to put a small amount of silicone around the pcv o-ring and install.wait hours for silicone to set up.

SOURCE: 2004 Ford Sport Trac Romove the Extended Tailgate

The bed extenders I have experience with on Ford vehicles have two tabs that are beside the pivot pin. If this one is like them you just push the tabs toward the side and then pull up or push down (this depends on the way it was last installed) on the bed extender.

Engine location of the PVC on a 2004 ford explorer sport trac

Your vehicle is equipped with a "heated PCV" It is located on the back of the intake manifold and has coolant lines attached to it. It must be unbolted from the manifold. (See picture)

My 2002 sport trac stalls or runs ruff at low rpms, r there any easy fixes?

You might get some relief with a free scan at Autozone or Oreillys. Sometimes the diagnostic computer in your truck will have some info and not set a trouble code.

The usual tuneup stuff like clean oil,air filter,PCV valve, gas filter should be looked at first. Do an intake manifold test with a water bottle. Spray a stream of water around the joints of the intake manifold (with motor running) to find leaks. A leak will change the Rpm or stall it.

Check your sparkplugs for condition or replace them. A dirty EGR valve may not close tight, sometimes taking off the Airhorn and cleaning the intake manifold directly under the airhorn will help. Replace the gasket for the airhorn. Clean EGR opening.

Thats about it for quick cheap fixes. A TPS throttle position sensor is inexpensive and may help if all else fails.
