The exhaust system could be blocked between the engine and the tail pipe. The fuel mixture could be too rich or too lean.
Is the check engine light on ?
Can you rev the engine up in park ?

97 toyota camry has almost no engine power, immense jerky shaking, knocking noise, burning corky smell, dies after a few minutes of running!! please help

It sounds like the cataltic converter is pluged and it is giving you fits this is a common problem due to all fuel contaning ethonal. Try taking the exaust apart before the cataltic converter. On the 4 cylinders it is that big can looking thing in front of the motor by the oil dip stick and the oil filter. On the V6 take it apart right after the front pipe and the rear pipe come together. If this is the problem the car will run but it will be a whole lot louder that normal. If this fixes it take it to an exaust shop and ask them to replace the converter.

Exaust system torns red on a 1996 town car

this is a good indication that the convertors are plugged up and need replacing.this indicates a blockage in the exhaust from the point at the rear of the glowing exhaust forward but usually at the site of the blockage.you will have to replace the convertors as this is the only legal way of repairing the problem and remember you still have to have the car pass an emmissions test when its due.

Was running great then it just would not start and when it did it started idling fast now the exaust will glow red

if engine is running without missfire check catyletic converter for plugging also very rich running will cause exhaust to glow but will cause alot of black smoke from tail pipe I dont reccomend driving vehicle till exhaust or rich running is fixed can lead to engine failure

I have a 1981 ford f150 and have a question. why dose the left exaust manifold glow red hot when i run my engine? also, my trucks engine doesn't have a catilick converter.

If it's a V-engine and the other manifold doesn't get red the one that does may draw some air, i.e. the seal between the block and the exhaust is gone. If you don't replace it, the manifold will melt.

Loss of power on my 1994 f150 inline 6

not much info but could be catylitic converters, when it is dark give the truck a ride dont run the stuff out of it but make it work harder than usual for about 5 or 6 miles look under the truck at the converters if they are glowing red there shot, replace them, also be prepared because if you run it to long it will back exaust through the intake and ruin some sensors wich will need repaced as well
