SOURCE: Bleeding clutch slave cylinder

i think youre doing the right thing. they are very stubborn to bleed because the hyd. line goes up high across back of engine before droppiing back down to slave cyl., trapping air. could try to gravity bleed by opening bleeder at slave, cap off of master cyl, full with fluid then it may start to come out after a bit. then try your process again. or can try to bleed at connections further up the line, working your way back to bleeder. hope this helps. be patient.

Not sure if I understand your question. Sounds like the push rod from the clutch master cylinder is pushing the cylinder off the firewall. If that is the case it could be that your rod wasnt fully engage into your cylinder make the rod to long and with enough pressure is popping the clip off the fire wall

If you need to bleed the clutch, you should notice a soft clutch pedal getting firmer when you pump it (the air that you need to bleed out of the system compresses as you pump, and the pedal gets firmer, just like brakes).

A hydraulic system for a clutch (or your brakes) has a master cylinder component and a slave cylinder component. If you compress fluid in the master cylinder, it exerts force on a (more than one for your brakes) slave cylinder that causes a mechanical component to move.

Recommend you lean into the engine compartment on the drive side at the firewall or crawl under the car and have someone depress and release your clutch a few times. You should be able to find the master cylinder because the mechanical clutch linkage has to be attached to it. The same at the bellhousing, where the slave cylinder has to mechanically cause the throwout bearing to be moved. It is possible (but not probable) that your clutch master cylinder is located on the inside of the firewall, not the outside.

How do I change hydraulic clutch on chevy s10 1996?

If it's the clutch slipping, has nothing to do with the master or slave cylinders, you need to replace the disc and pressure plate.Meaning the transmission has to come out.Just jumping out of second gear means it wasn't all the way into second. You bette rod some more testing, like hold the brake when you let the clutch out.If the car don't move, replace the clutch disc and pressure plate. If the engine stalls whenyou let the clutch out, theres nothing wrong with your clutch, but rev the engine a bit when you do this.

It sounds like you have a problem with the hydraulic clutch release. Make sure the clutch master cylinder is full of brake fluid. If it is you may have a problem with the master cylinder and/or slave cylinder.

No, you don't need to replace the clutch itself.
Don't be surprised if the slave cylinder replacement doesn't fix it.
Could be the master cylinder.

I have a 1985 Chevy S-10. I have not started or drove this vehicle for a few months. I go to start it today and the clutch goes all the way to the floor with no resistance. Please help?

Your S10 has a clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, a hydraulic clutch system.

You need to fill the master cylinder and bleed both the master and slave cylinders in order for the clutch mechanism to work properly.
