Transmission filter replacement in a 1990 ford probe lx

There is a im not sure the technical name for it but its braket arm that attaches to the front of car to the middle holds up transmission an tire mount thingy is allso attached ****** has drain boult but want to change filter but that arm thing is dead center of where i got to unbolt it do i have to pull the enging an ****** out just to change it or unbolt it (support ****** first with jack accores) an get arm thingy out of way or what. Reson why i need to change filter car has rough shift i know i need to change all mounts soon also but now the man shift light indacator flashes when trying to shift in to 3rd an it wont unless i pull over turn off car to get man shift light to stop flashing. start an drive agin sometimes i have to stop 3 or 4 times before it finally shifts it to 3rd an man shift light stays of when man shift light does come on wont go no higher then 2nd gear. freind told me to try changeing the ****** filter but now i have the problem of getting to it plezzzz help

you need to replace clutch pack for that gear can be ordered seperately from parts store or dealer if you want to save money call peach street auto recycling at 1800-365-2341 for a warrantied used one! also might be time for change trans filter and fluid filter could be slightly clogged but I lean towards clutch pack I replace these alot on Hondas

Try checking it out at the shop but i think that you might find that your going to have to replace the clutch.

What you need to check is the transmission release bearing because if there is a clearance on the release bearing you will encounter this problem and also check the transmission oil.

Hi All

I have a s40 1.9d / 2000 plate,
In the last month or so the car loses revs when changing up to 3rd and 4th gear, I can only get 50 mph max in 3rd gear 80mp in 4th.
The car has just clocked 185,000 miles
Its a great car but a pai at the moment, I've had a service including fuel fillter change added fuel cleaners to the deilsel all to no avail


Any suggestions

Sounds like you need to cover basics first. The battery cables are clean and tight? Are all the wires in the battery cable at the battery making a good connection? Sounds like a common problem and is in the service bullitins is that the ground wire attached to the battery cable end that goes to the body and then to the transmission case bolt has failed to provide a good ground and the acuators and servos and even the switches have'nt a good path to ground ( their is one but it's though other controllers and the power isn't strongly grounded. I f you were following a dianostic tree of good and bad the ground is the number one cause of your problem. Don't fix the old grounds just add new ones. and then clear codes and test it again. Oil leaks near the transmission to engine connection were found by me everytime that I was assigned to this set of problems. Ground corrected and the car was fixed.

93f250 will not go into park or reverse,does the linkage need to be adjusted?


Hello,

I had a similar problem with my Econoline--the vehicle would not start because the vehicle would not go in park (I had to manually move the linkage arm).
For my problem the linkage bolt had stripped causing an alignment problem therefore I bought a helicoil tap set and re-tapped the hole on the transmission where the linkage braket attached.
Worth a look anyway.

The 1995 ford probe will not accelerate after a complete stop, I give it gas and the car revs in drive without moving forward, does this particular problem have anything to do with the fuel injection, or...


it is a transmission issue which are no stranger to ford probes, not sure exactly what part is faulty inside the transmission but in most cases with that vehicle it is not do it yourself, the only thing you can try is replacing the filter and fluid in the pan.

I want replace front wheel bearing


remove wheel, remove brake caliper+braket. remove cotter pin, spindle nut. slide off rotor. knock out bearings with suitable tool. repack bearings and replace.

check for voltage at the starter first on the large red wire.check your starter solenoid. bypass it with a screwdriver touch the two large studs or large and one small one. and it should engage

Just quit running while driving will still turn still over, getting fuel thought filter, i dont think im getting fire. 1990 2.2L ford probe


i had the same thing happen to me after it turned 200,000 miles.

All you have is a bad electric connecter to the fuel rail it's located over by the battery and that should help your problem.

1989 to 1990 Powered door conversion


about the only advice i can give is that i did the same thing with a 94 probe base and a 94 gt. i had to take the whole wiring harness out of the gt and put it in the base. It starts from the inside fuse block, goes to both doors, under the front seats, all the way to the fuel pump, abs, tail lights, and pretty much everything from the dash to the rear of the car. If you can get a whole harness, it should work.

1990 Ford Probe 2.2 automatic stalls in forward, reverse OK


Sounds like a bad IAC (idle air control valve/sensor) that controls your idle when going from throttle to idle. If bad your idle will act crazy and can cause stalls easily. Pretty sure that's it.
