SOURCE: obd code po353

P0353 is the DTC (Data Trouble Code) for "Ignition Coil C Primary/Secondary Circuit Malfunction", and it will require the use of a DVOM (Digital Volt/Ohm Meter) to test the coil, and you will need to check the resistance between the primary and secondary windings and they should be between 1500 and 50000 ohm's, and the resistance between the coil windings and ground should read infinity, but I have yet to see a coil that did not need to be replaced when that DTC pops up, and you should replace that coil, and also check to see if the spark plug is worn out, and if is worn out then replace them all along with any worn out or torn coil boots, a worn out spark plug will cause the coil to work harder and shorten the life of the coil.

The "C" coil is the third coil in the firing order, and if you have the 3.2 liter engine then it should be using a COP (Coil On/Over Plug) design and here is a diagram of the firing order and cylinder layout, and you can see that the "C" coil will be on the #3 cylinder and spark plug. (The second or middle spark plug on the right or passenger side of the engine).

The 2.2 liter engine uses separate coil packs, the "C" coil will be for the #4 cylinder and spark plug, and you should replace that coil pack. Also check the spark plugs for wear and the ignition wires should be replaced if they are over five years old and stock wires will usually have a date on them when they were manufactured and installed.

Need help with spark issue

Hello, I usually stick to Ford brands, but if you were on the Roadside, I would pull over to see what was wrong. First, I would try a small amount of starting fluid to see if there was spark. The engine would either hit or run until the starting fluid was used up.

If the engine did nothing, that would lead me to believe it is a spark issue. Not being familiar with your brand, I would look in the Owners' Manual for mention of an Ignition Relay, PCM Relay or Anti-theft device. I would also read up on any Impact or Collision sensor that may disable the engine. Ford brands interrupt the fuel flow but your Brand may kill the engine.

Try a different Ignition key in case the computer chip broke in your key. Disconnect the Negative Battery cable and hope the brain resets to get you home.

If you can get to Autozone, Oreilys, or Advance, they can scan your vehicle and perhaps pick up the cause of your problem if you did not disconnect the Battery. You may have to call for a Tow truck(USUALLY A FORD BRAND) and get towed to a repair shop.

I have a 2000 ford windstar that I bought last monday, it died last tuesday. go figure. I was driving down the road and it just died with no warning at all just stopped. I had it towed then the next day go...

You have O2 Sensor Codes

I believe you have a bad fuel pump,
thus low pressure and the O2 Sensors,
set a lean fault code

Check fuel pressure at the rail when you turn
the key to start or it is running

Changing spark plugs is something that
never has to be done to find out what issues
you have.
You could throw away a couple and it should start

Also NO Parts EVER get Changed until
TESTED and found to be bad

My f 150 went through a car wash today, it

Sounds like you have a faulty Crankshaft sensor. Ford Part Number: 1W7Z6C315AB

It's simple to change but it takes about 3 hours to do because there's just no room to work in that area. Your going to have to take the ac compressor off (3 bolts) then take the 1 bolt out of the sensor, pull it out and replace it.

Before you go and repalce the Crankshaft sensor, inspect the wire leads and look for any indication of loose or damaged connections or to the wire leads after you have your F150 scanned for any DTC codes.

Auto Zone or Parts Source scan ECM for the DTC codes free of charge and can give you the step by step instructions to address the issues.

Good luck and thank you for using Fixya.

Losing power while towing in hot weather 2000 f 250 triton v-8 gradually all power was cut out and i parked it.after an hour she ran this some sort of self preservation system?

Yes, it could be going into 'limp mode' due to a problem so components won't be damaged. Did the check engine light go on? Even if it didn't, I would scan for codes (free service at parts stores) to see if any are stored in the F-250's computer. That could be the info you need to figure out what was wrong.

Have a 1997 ford thunderbird v8...started running very rouhg and check engine light blinking. Changed plugs and wires but noticed small coolant leak above engine. Ran fine for 10 days then started running...

Light should have stored code. Go to local autoparts chain & get free scan for codes and go from there. Saves all that guess work & money a lot of times. Write down code(s) and let us know.
