The headlights on the envoy are the easiest parts of the car to repair. You just pull the two tabs at the top of the headlights, screw out the bulb containers and you are good to go

SOURCE: need info on replacing front strut 2003 gmc envoy

A: Use two jack-stands under the front-frame rails, a hydraulic jack under the "bulb" in the control-arm and a third jack-stand under the "spindle extension" of the rotor. It's not necessary to remove the calipers and/or rotors. The upper strut-mounts might need to be forcibly loosened and then removed. If the old struts are worn out enough, they should just compress by themselves. The new struts should be able to be compressed by hand and then positioned in place as fast as possible, before they extend.
For the strut-to-knuckle bolts to loosen, use a pipe extension to the fixed driver of the socket-set. To tighten these bolts, first torque them to 170 Nm and then give them an additional turn of 120 degrees. For the latter, use the pipe-extension again

SOURCE: How do you replace a fuel pump on a 2003 gmc envoy

unfortunately you will need to drop the gas tank ....you will need a jack and jack stands for safety reasons and some tools sockets - {deep-well} and screwdrivers and patience and hopefully a warm area and pliers ........if you decide to do this first i can give you more detailed assistance on what to expect as well as difficulty level etc.....a few hours i assure you a bit of difficulty depending upon your mechanical skill and health i know i had to have mine sent out as i could only get it 3/4 the way out and i have been an auto/body mechanic and suspension paint metal etc for over 34 years but my health issues restrict me from even the simplest of tasks at times i hope this helps you in making a decision and ...................ensure in fact it truly is the fuel pump 1st have you determined this yet ? a pressure test can be made for free from most parts stores and a few major repair franchises

2003 gmc envoy... I was told i needed a fan clutch.... Then. Next thing i know check engine soon, reduce engine power... Whats going on then computer... P1221, 1271, 1635 still not fix

if you were told that the fan clutch needed replacing and you did not do that , then the engine light and the loss of power would be a result of overheating of the engine and it going to limp mode
take it to a gm service centre for a explanation of the fault codes

After replacing the fan clutch and water pump do i have to reprogram the computer on a 2003 gmc envoy?

No! there is nothing to reprogram. The sensors in the coolant system and the temp sensor for the fans dont need to have anything done to them. If you are not getting any check engine light, you are good.

GMC Envoy 2003 overheating

Your fan clutch could be going out...iin other words, it may be turning, appearing to be fine, but not fast enough therefor, not cooliing the engine enough.

IT MAY BE THAT THE CLUTCH IS LOCKED UP BY DEFAULT, SO THE ELECTRONICS TO THE FAN CLUTCH ARE MOST LIKELY THE PROBLEM.

2002 GMC Envoy is having a tough time shifting at 85,000 miles. It also starts & idles at higher RPMs. The car is also much noiser from the engin & fan. What is wrong - the trans., motor needing a...

I ran into this concern with my 2002 and my wife ran into the almost identical problem with her 2003. this may sound silly,, but it was the clutch fan. Extreme loss of power from time to time came first. Then a roar of the what seemed like the engine when stopping. Actually cut off after it started to roar at highway speeds, and had absolutely no excelleration from time to time. Sometimes all of the symptoms completely went away. After taking mine to the dealer several times, finally they got it right and replaced the fan clutch. When my wifes 2003 SLt started doing the exact same thing as my 2002 had done, we both knew what the problem was, and the dealer did a quick fix. $600.00. Perhaps this should have been a recall feature, but never was. Everyone that I know that has an envoy, somewhere around the 72,000 and 103,000 mile mark has had this problem and have had to have the clutch fan replaced. It may sound like the vehicle is going to have to be junked,, but that is all it needs.
