Key does not turn in trunk lock. For a repair tech, it'll cost 100, if I take the lock out it'll cost 25.

This is a nobrainer eh! (I'm Canadianeh!)

    Thank you,

    Al

Well, I gave a good look, but can't see any type of clip to slide off. There is a plastic thingamajig attached somehow to the end of the lock assembly, and what appears to be slides or something on each side, but no clip. I have a feeling the slide thingees are or could be instrumental in getting the lock out, but nothing I've done with them appears to release the lock assembly.

    But...thanks anyway eh!

    Al

Remove 99 sunfire trunk lock

Open the trunk from the inside with a screw driver if you can get through the back seat. If you can't, and the key does not work, take a drill about 3/8" in size and drill out the center of the lock. Then take a screw driver and open the trunk. Go to the junk yard and get another lock and have a lock company make a key if needed.

How to replace 1989 camaro trunk lock

You will have to access the lock mec from the inside of the trunk. By removing the trim panels to access it. Or if the lock mec is not destroyed like someone has to to break into it. You can have a locksmith rekey the tumblers to match your existing door key. Hope this helps.

Hi,

My name is Ben and I'm your guru, i.e., mentor, an influential teacher or popular expert: a management guru. - origin from Sanskrit, 'weighty, grave'.for today.

Subject: Customer locked out of the trunk

Customer's exact description:i need to get into trunk key is inside how can i remove back seats from 89 bmw

Discussion: The customer suggests a that removing the rear seat might be the solution.

Your trunk compartment has cross-bars for the purpose of making it difficult for a thief who breaks a window and then gains entry to your trunk where the out-of-sight valuables can be found. Glass windows serve the purpose of preventing honest people from gaining entry.

The simplest solution is a $5 tool that will let you make an impression of the interior of the lock. You take this impression to your local hardware store or WalMart and purchase a replacement key for $1.50. The tool is called a 'Kwikset Key Gauge Decoder Rekey Removal Locksmith Tool'. You can find one online or at a hardware store.

All the best,

Ben

Ignition key does not open doors or trunk both keys came with car

If the key works in the ignition, but not the doors; chances are they've replaced the ignition, without reconfiguring it to that key. Or at one point they replaced all the locks on the doors and trunk.
It's not a key programming issue. If it were, the doors may work but the ignition wouldn't.
So, it looks as though you'll need to call a locksmith to rekey your doors and trunk.

Good luck!

Key locked in trunk, how to re-open trunk

Check to see if the back seat folds down, I am not familiar with this car. You may be able to remove the bottom half of the backseat and then remove the top half and go in through the back. Don't feel bad I have locked keys in trunks myself - it is just funny when somebody else does it. If the car is locked and you are unable to get in then everything I told you is irrelevant, you will have to get it rekeyed.

Pontiac sunfire 2005, bar from the trunk fell off

they are usually a combination of bars one over the other and sort of spring loaded and locked by clamps you may have to go to what we in Canada call an auto wreckers and see if you can buy the whole assembly and replace it., all the bars if locked in place properly will open the trunk and hold it open until you press or push it closed

MM theft system has been activated on my 98 Pontiac Sunfire and now my car won't start. I've checked my trunk for a button and I've removed the alarm fuse and still my car won't start.

I have a 97 Malibu and when the theft system light kept coming on and would only start after letting the car sit for 10 minutes we ended up replacing the complete ignition where the key goes in. Then it was fine. It wasn't cheap either. Sorry, good luck.

01 Sunfire trunk lock

You can get an entire latch assembly at any local junkyard for not too many $. When installing use scar marks and dirt around bolts on the trunk lid to locate the latch properly.
