After a receint overhaul, I have a engine miss at 2000rpm and above. If you accelerate, it takes off and runs fine untill you level off, then the miss returns. It has new plugs, wires , distriibuter cap, rotor, oxygen sensor, and crank sensor.

Sounds like a valve problem. check compression running and non-running. valve sealing at higher rpm is usually a valve spring problem is if runs ok at idle.

1984. Why does it run fine during cold weather and sputter when it is warm and I punch the gas pedal?

could be low float level, low pump pressure/supply
blocked fuel filter
when cold the engine is running on choke setting which draws more fuel from the carby
when it is warm the choke is off and if you have a flat spot ( (sputter) , that indicates a lack of fuel or maybe a bad accelerator pump or power valve
if the carby is a holley then replace the power valve and overhaul the accelerator pump.

2002 lincoln wont go forward but goes in reverse

Start the engine and allow it to get to operating temperature.

Place the gear selector in Reverse, then slowly through all the forward gears, while holding the brake.

Replace the selector in Park, but leave the engine running.

Check the transmission fluid level.

If low, add fluid until level is correct, then repeat above procedure and check fluid level again to ensure that transmission is filled to proper level.

If level is correct, perform fluid/filter exchange. If problem persists, see qualified service technician for further diagnosis. Transmission damage will require overhaul to repair.

Engine over-run between gears

This is a very common problem for ford. I have the same thing every day. It is the computer not reading the temp. When it does that just tap the gas pedal.

Won't start, engine wont rev above 2000rpm

Have the alternator tested. You are providing a low charge to the battery when you jump it and when taking it above 2K RPM requires more amperage resulting in the engine dying and the rough idle
