have same problem it starts up with foot all the way down on gas, seems to idle better in nuetral, need to change the pcv. valve but not sure if they have to be turned to a certain direction to remove or it might break and go into valve cover. It does stall when you take your foot off gas,it wont idle at all if there's no pressure applied to gas, would pcv. valve do this or maybe a combo of pcv.and maybe catylatic converter to ?

97 grand cherokee same problem.  if i rev the engine and let off the accelerator it will stall, and sometimes while coming to a stop the rpms will drop so low that it stall, and seems to only do this in the winter.

If you know where the EGR valve is located take a wrench and gently tap on the valve if you notice an immediate change in the idle you have found the problem, the problem is the egr vlve is slightly binding and the right way to fix it is to replace it

Look for a possible vacuum leak Use can of carburettor cleaner carefuly sprayed around inlet manifold and around injector seals.Spray with engine running and engine will instantly react to any leak no matter how small.Dont allow fan to blow onto paint as carb cleaner will damage it.

94 jeep grand cherokee. starts, idle. throw warmup. as soon as I touch the excellerator let up the rpm drop & engine stalls.

Most low idle speed problems on these engines are due to a faulty idle air control valve but since you state the idle will go up and return to idle then i would say it is working properly i think you have a throttle body coking problem ( dirt and grit accumulates around the butterfly valve in the throttlebody ) to fix this simply remove the fresh air hose from the throttlebody and open the throttle all the way up use a clen rag and wipe clean you may use a solvent such as B12 on the rag but dont use too much 1_4_2013_4_54_06_am.jpg

With my foot on the brake and in drive I rev the gas but when I take my foot off the car idle drops and then it stalls

Check under the hood for a vaccuum leak. This could be a bad vaccuum hose. If no vaccuum leak then this actually sounds like your IAC is bad (idle air control motor) and needs replaced.

Car won't run without foot on accelerator.

its very important that the throttle body especially around the throttle blade be spotless clean or they will stall every now and then. then progress to refuse to idle at all. take off the rubber air intake pipe from the top of throttle body [has 3 torqes screws] open throtle by hand and look for carbon/grease/soot etc were the throttle sits when closed. clean with toothbrush and some caeb cleaner get all black off and dont forget the blade, both sides and the edges. scrub then rinse with carb cleaner untill shiny.spray some cleaner in the hole that is on top off the body to. that is your idle air controll motor port.put back together.it will be hard to start at first so hold gas pedal half way down untill it starts then slowly [real slow] let foot off untill you are no longer pressing it. put in reverse and let it idle there a few seconds then do the same in drive. that should do it. sometimes it may stall a couple of times when driving dont hold foot on gas just let it die then restart this allows the computer to readjust its idle stratagee
