05 pontiac vibe idles to low when in gear

My 05 Pontiac Vibe has 95,000 miles and runs fine down the road. Its an automatic and at stop lights it idles to low. It shakes the whole car. In neutral or park it idles smoothly around 900 rpms on the tach. When placed in gear it drops down to around 700 rpms. I replaced the plugs and air filter a couple months ago. There are no check lights on. Just wondering what I should be looking for to fix the problem?

Take off the annoying plastic engine cover...you'll see them towards the back(I'm almost definite).

Hi Ncrver,

The Cabin Air Filter is located inside of the glove compartment.

we had the computer code p2716 on our 2005 pontiac vibe -shift solenoid. gm says to replace the pcm before you do anything else.  we tried this and it works.

They are controlled by the turn signal switch. Replace that.

Is that a low oil pressure light or a silly Check Engine light? Check the engine oil level and the automatic transmission fluid level. If those are ok, it could be a bad filter or the wrong oil, possibly a bad sending unit.
BTW, there's no need to let that engine idle up to temperature even in cold weather. A minute is quite sufficient as long as you have oil pressure. Otherwise you're wasting fuel and creating more pollution since the engine efficiency is lowest at idle.

05 Pontiac vibe it has a lean code what could it be

Depending on what the actual code is, it could be a faulty O2 sensor or a fuel pressure problem among other things.

I have a 2005 pontiac vibe with over a 160,000 miles on it. I have a automatic transmission and the check engine light is on. When driving its make hard shifts but if i'm on the highway it dosen't do this....

There are solenoids inside automatic transmission which will shift gears. Solenoids are typically for 2 gear shifts. Solenoids have a needle that goes out of a cone shaped tube in it and this needle vibrates and breaks the end of the the tube making shifting rough or not at all.
Since the Pontiac Vibe is a Toyota I doubt that this is the issue as they are very tough. You need an OBDii Code reader to indicate what the issue really is before you start changing parts and not getting anywhere. There is an ELM OBDii code reader on Ebay for $10., get the one with the lights and there is a bluetooth type that you can use your phone or tablet.
